1. Explain the rationale of Rizal law.
The reason why Rizal law was created is because of the current dwindling Filipino identity and
a decreased sense of nationalism from the current and the foreseeable future generations.
Knowing the reason behind the revolution of the most known National Hero and having an idea of
how his train of thoughts worked can give or incite a sense of nationality from the students that
learn about it. That sense of nationalism is what is missing from the Filipino citizens because of
the peaceful times. Having a strong figure back up the Filipino identity is necessary to keep that
sense of nationalism and keep it around. Knowing what the national hero Jose Rizal’s intentions
were when he felt the need to revolt against the government of his time, what led him to keep on
his path no matter the danger, and letting that feeling grow inside the students that learn about his
works and his life, that is the goal of the Rizal law.
2. Relate the passage of Rizal law to nation-building, patriotism and nationalism.
The Rizal law’s aim is to instill in the learner’s a sense of nationalism that they are able to carry
on and pass to the next generation. This is important in nation-building since the main purpose of
nation-building is to operate with a unified reason and what better way to move under than a
glorified national hero as the core. The Rizal law definitely instills patriotism and the nationalism
since the embodiment of patriotism and nationalism is the hero that chose to die for his country, a
sacrifice necessary for the country to revolt against the oppressors at the time. The Rizal law
covers these categories fairly easily since the life and works of Rizal is definitely a role model to
most of the Filipino people. Being able to love the country more than oneself is a quality rarely
seen nowadays and having that quality present in everyone is important, especially in times where
there is turmoil against other countries.
3. Give instances that will show how you can manifest your love for your country.
Showing patriotism and nationalism is one the lessons that have been instilled in our minds
and hearts since we were little. Most often example of showing the love for our country is by
singing the national anthem or whenever we hear the song we tend to stop and respect the
national anthem and the national flag. Also, being able to patronize the local brands or products
being produced by our fellow Filipino shows the love for our country. Moreover, preserving own
culture and traditions and being able to practice and respect those traditions expresses our love to
the country. During this pandemic, showing the love for our country is being challenged due to the
capabilities of one person to defend the rights of our countrymen and the Philippines itself. In
addition, being aware of the political issues and having concern to the betterment of the
Philippines is the best example to manifest the love for the country.
