Phil's Fish Shop Employee Handbook

Welcome to Phil's Fish Shop, "Where Fish Would Go if They Could Shop!"
We invite you to ask questions and get to know our products, our customers, and
our staff. Customers turn to us as guides to help them create safe and pleasant
environments for their fish. Whether they are beginners or experienced fish
owners, we serve as an invaluable resource for our customers. Our support for pet
owners keeps them coming back to Phil's to purchase supplies and additional
aquarium pets!
Your first task as a new employee is to become familiar with how to set up an
aquarium. Many of our customers are novice fish owners who have never had any
aquarium pets. They rely on our staff to help identify the equipment they will need
and explain how to set it up. Then we help the customers choose the right fish to fill
their tanks.

Phil's Fish Shop Employee Exam

DIRECTIONS: Imagine that you are a staff member at Phil's Fish Shop, "Where
Fish Would Go if They Could Shop!" All new Phil's employees must pass a test
before they work with customers. That exam appears below. Respond to each
question or assignment. Please write your answers in complete sentences.
1. Mr. Jones has an established aquarium in his home. The water level is low,
and he is complaining that something may be wrong with his tank. What
important piece of equipment, neglected by Mr. Jones, might resolve the
situation?
Well, I ask he what's wrong with his tank. For example,
¿Are you broken your tank?
¿When you bought your tank, does it lose water?
And if it is that, I will change your tank, obviously if the tank has a warranty, but
first that nothing I need to review for be sure.
2. How would you explain to little Sunny Day why a large fish that looks like the
"Rainbow Fish" should not be placed in her new aquarium as soon as it is set
up?
3. Mrs. McCleary's 5-gallon tank has three fish. She wants to add ten guppies.
What is your advice?
If his fish are big, the fish can eat small fish, she have than to consider the size of
hers fish. and if is the same size she can do it.
4. Mr. March is concerned about the build-up of algae in his tank. What is your
recommendation?
If you have algae growing on the surface of the tank or ornaments, you should
get an algae scraper of some sort and scrub the glass before removing water.
Many varieties of algae scrapers or scrubbers are available at your local pet
store. For additional cleanliness, you could get algae eating catfish and/or
scavengers to pick up some of this work for you, however, having catfish in the
tank does NOT mean that you don't need to clean.
EXTRA! Create a simple handbook for new fish owners that includes
recommended equipment, supplies, and practices to follow for the first few
weeks.
You need an automatic cleaner, this is for keep clean the tank the most possible
time.
You need a pawfly aquarium fish net, this is to take the fishes and release the
change of water.
The change of water you can do each month, this depend of the dirt in the tank
this part is indispensable for the heatly of fish
You have to know your fish ¿What kind of fish is?, with this date you can know
how food can eat your fish.
