DIY Rolling Workbench
Thanks f or downloading the DIY PETE Rolling Workbench plans. This is a fun and simple
project that can easily be accomplished in a weekend. The table will provide a nice big w ork
surface to build all sorts of other DIY projects on. The locking caster wheels allow the table
to b oved with ease. I stained the wood with Special Walnut stain from Minwax. To

Please read: These are dimensional lumber measurements and how the boards are marked

The overall dimensions are 90 inches by 48 inches. The table is 28 ½ inches tall with the
wheels. F

Use a c ircular saw to cut the plywood top to size. My plans call for a 90 inch wide by 48 i nch
table top.

Frame the top
Attach t he plywood table top to the boards that frame it. Use 2 inch screws from the top
side about every 8‐12 inches around the perimeter. Connect the 2x4 boards to each other
using 3 inch wood screws.

Connect the legs
Cut the legs to size on a miter saw. Feel free to adjust the height as needed to best it your
needs. Attach them to the 2x4 boards at each corner using a few 3 ½ inch long wood
screws. The legs are 23 ¾” long and so the total height of the table with the ¾ inch plywood
and without the wheels is 24 ½”. The 3 inch caster wheels with the swivel adds another 4
inches bringing the total height to 28 ½ inches.

Add table top supports
Connect the ive support boards and space them according to the measurments below. Use
3 inch long wood screws to connect the frame to the supports.

Create the lower shelf
Cut the boards to frame out the lower shelf. Attach the boards using 3 inch wood screws.
Cut the plywood for the lower shelf. Notch out two of the corners for the legs.

Attach t he plywood to the shelf frame from the top side using 2 inch wood screws.
Use a c ouple 3 ½ inch wood screws to attach the shelf to the legs at each corner.

Here is another diagram showing the lower shelf. I spaced the frame 2 inches up from the
bottom of each leg.

Add the outside boards
Attach t he lower boards around the outside of the legs. Attach using 3 inch wood screws.

Cut a nd add the plywood panels
Cut the plywood panels and then attach them to each of the corner legs.
Add the caster wheels
Use 2 ½ inch long x ¼ inch diameter lag bolts and ¼ inch washers to attach each caster
wheel.
