Reaction Paper

Heritage sites was the most exciting places to visit, it gives me thrills and it inspires
me in life. The feelings it gives through arts is just an amazing experience. By this article
about heritage sites, it thought me about this stone house (“Bahay na Bato) and mansions
from years ago, from these architectural features influence the houses way back then and
what it goes through. First structure in Las Casas Filipinas was the “Casa Mexico” that they
disassembled the house and traveled it from one place to different parts of the country. The
article also talked about life of the Filipinos during Spanish era, to be specific are: the
servants called aliping saguiguilid and aliping namamahay, antique appliances such as
vintage typewriter, sewing machine, radio, projector, coffee grinder, electric fan, and
phonograph, how wooden ironing board made and use, and lastly mentioned was the
behavior towards photographs. Other houses was the “Casa Binondo”, “Casa Unisan”, “Casa
Hidalgo”, “Casa Lubao” and “Casa Baliuag” some of them are designed by the famous artists
in the 1980s, some of them wasn’t able to preserve and became school, dormitory and etc.
some of them became hotel and resorts. It is true that it gives a sense of pride to every
Filipino in their/our heritage and culture but remember to appreciate and take care of them.

When I read this article about historical structures/places it feels like I was in a time
travel, it gives me a glimpse of what a Filipino culture used to and Filipino’s way of life. I
appreciate and value the arts that has a story behind it, it’s so good when just by seeing it tells
you the story and it touches your soul.
