Lottery

The document discusses arguments for and against having a public lottery as a sponsor for state governments. It outlines three reasons some give in favor: supporting government programs, helping local economies through ticket and prize sales, and potentially breaking intergenerational poverty. However, the speaker argues these points have issues, noting governments may not use lottery funds as intended, winners may spend prize money outside communities, and lottery tickets act as regressive taxes that don't truly help the poor.

Lottery

Both the text and the audio express why is beneficial or not to have a sponsor as public lottery,
therefore the reading show up three reasons explaining why this is a good idea conversely the
speaker argues that these arguments have some troubles, thus it is not convenient to have this
kind of sponsor, so the arguments were the next ones:

In first place the article opined that this may support state government plans as the case of
California that have programs for asides, schools or as Pennsylvania programs for Senior
citizens. Nevertheless, the speaker said that public programs are not beneficial for a sale
increase because the government use this money in place to generate this money.

In second place the writing argued it may be hep to local economies by the retailer tickets
sales in addiction that when someone wins the lottery this participant will buy products and
services increasing profits for small stores. On the other way, the speech spoke about when
someone wins the lottery is possible that the person will spend money outside of their
community.

And the last point, the essay comments that it break poverty intergenerational giving some
travels to family members further that winners normally are people with low incomes, though
for the listening lesson emphasizes that it will not break intergenerational poverty for the
reason that tickets works as regressive taxes, ergo, people that normally do not have income
are the people who spend more money in this tickets other reason it is that people who win
lottery will be in bankrupt in a few years.
