WEEK 1

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the Grade 5 pupils with 85% accuracy would be able:

1. define entrepreneurship;
2. discuss the roles and characteristics of entrepreneurs
3. produce simple products; and
4. sell products based on needs and demands in school and community;

Let’s be informed!

Entrepreneurship refers to the effective transformation of available resources into


small or big business endeavors which can turn into monetary gain for oneself, family
and for the whole country as well.

Characteristics of a Successful Entrepreneur

1. Persistent – not easily discouraged. He doesn’t give up until he achieves his


goal.

2. Hardworking – industrious and makes the most of one’s time.

3. Innovative – thinks of new and better ways of doing things. He wants to improve
his product to stay long in the business and to keep up with the changing times.

4. Risk-taker – starting a business involves risks, so a successful entrepreneur


knows to rise again in case he meets failure along the way.

5. Self-confident – does not get discouraged easily and believes in his abilities.

6. Knowledgeable – has extensive knowledge about the product or service he is


selling. Customers trust a person who has a product knowledge because it
shows that he has authority and credibility when it comes to a particular product
or brand.

7. Energetic and enthusiastic – active, always on the go, always thinking


something to do, something to offer. One uses time wisely. Other people are
inspired to follow him.

8. Responsible – trustworthy and reliable; can be depended on to accomplish jobs


undertaken

9. Can manage very well – synonyms of being successful. He can make his
subordinates willingly follow tasks to attain their goals.

10. Has high standards – sets high standards in their business to produce high
quality products or services.
Essential Questions

Directions: Answer the following questions and write it on your HELE notebook. Submit
it on Friday.

3. To you, what is the most important characteristic that an entrepreneur should
have?

Directions: Research a well-known entrepreneur in the Philippines and learn how he or


she became an entrepreneur. Write your gathered background information on a 1 whole
sheet of paper and submit it to school on Friday.

Below are some suggestions to consider in choosing a product to be sold at home or
online.
1. Identify the needs and demands of your community.
2. Sell a simple product.
3. Do not sell products that requires going outside the house. Stay at home.
4. In selling online, make sure you have technology devices to be used.
5. Do not invest much money in your products.
6. Choose only 1 simple product.

Finalize your product!

should you sell at home. Consider your resources.
