SRS System Precautions
Refer to the applicable service manual when servicing the supplemental restraint system (SRS) or related
components. Follow the instructions described in the service manual carefully, or the airbags may
accidentally deploy and cause damage or injuries.
SRS electrical connectors are identified by yellow color coding. Related components are located in the
steering column, the front console, the dashboard, the dashboard lower panel, the dashboard above the
glove box, the front seats, the roof, and the floor. Do not use electrical test equipment on these circuits.
When servicing the system, turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), disconnect the negative cable from the
battery, then wait for 3 minutes before starting work.
Be careful not to bump or impact the SRS unit, front impact sensors, or side impact sensors, especially
when the ignition switch is in ON (II), or for at least 3 minutes after the ignition switch is turned to LOCK
(0). Otherwise, the system may fail in a collision, or the airbags may deploy.
If there is an open or damage in the SRS wiring, replace the harness. Never attempt to modify, splice, or
repair SRS wiring.
