Activity # 3
In your own words, briefly discuss the following terms in 2 sentences.

1. Philippine Art
The art of the Philippines refers to the works of art that have developed and
amassed in the Philippines from the commencing of civilization hundred years ago up to
the existing era today. There are two distinct branches of Philippine arts, namely;
traditional arts and non-traditional arts.

2. Weaving
Weaving is the production of material by using interlacing two sets of yarns so that
they cross each other, normally at right angles, it is commonly finished or done with a
hand or power-operated loom. It also a particular style or manner in which something is
woven.

3. Folk Architecture
Folk architecture is the living environment that people created for themselves. It
is a structure shaped in the manner of design which later turns into traditional under the
influence of various factors. And it allows us to understand and explain the ideas, views,
tradition and beliefs of a certain community.

4. Indigenous wood carving


Indigenous wood carving is a form of woodcarving by mean of a cutting tool (knife,
usually called Paet in the Philippines), resulting in a wooden figure or of a wooden object.
It is as an art form, in which it includes kind of sculpture in wood.

5. Folk graphic
Folk graphic arts stand-out with their inventive peculiarities. It is clear, logically
balanced composition, ornamental expressive and has a harmony with it. Its figures have
a color interaction and has background elements.

6. Pottery
Pottery is one of the oldest and most widespread of the decorative arts. It consists
of objects made of clay and hardened with heat. The objects made are commonly useful
ones, such as vessels for holding liquids or plates or bowls from which our food are served.
