Explosion Relief Valves Guide

The document describes a valve called the Hörbiger-VALVE TYPE EVN 2.0 that is used for indoor relief of explosion pressure in a contained space. The valve activates by spring and uses aluminum lamellas to cool flames and prevent their spread by relieving pressure up to 10 bar and cooling the flames. It is suitable for use with various dust types and has a temperature range of -20°C to +80°C.

Description
Valves for indoor relief of explosion pressure by alu-
minium lamellas, whereby cooling takes place and
thus preventing flame spread.

Construction
• Activation by spring
• Flame cooling by aluminium lamellas
• May be used for Kst = 300 bar m/sec and Pmax
= 10bar
• Min. temperature: -20°C
• Max. temperature: +80°C
• Room, where relieved, must as a minimum be
300 times larger as raw air volume in filter unit
• Is tested with following dust groups according to
EN 16099: plastics, resins, toners, sugar (melt-
ing dusts), wood, MDF, flock, cellulose (fribrous
dusts), coal and peat
• Valve size must be calculated for specific unit
incl. Kst og Pmax
• May not be used for metal dust explosion
Technical data:
• Valve may be used after an explosion
Relief pressure: 0.1bar • Safety distance for valve:
