B. Teaching Information
If you do not have any teaching experience of young learners, please answer the questions based on your ideas.
1. What do you most enjoy about teaching and why?
I find it hard to summarize it to one, I think it is a mixture of working with children, how social the actual job is and
for now it has been my best tool to blend in with the local community.
2. What do you find most difficult about teaching and how do you handle it?
There are always difficulties, but if we try to look be objective and use a bit of left hand , all difficulties can be
handled if we give the best of us.
3. What are the aspects of good instructions in a classroom? How can you support your students’
understanding of your instructions?
I think it is very important to have rules, 1 speak english, 2 raise your hand , point at my ear when I say “listen to
the teacher please” .Once the class is in a good working environment, I try to use lots of gestures, I always ask if
they understood, and even if they say they do, I ask confirmation questions.
4. What are two of your favorite games to play with very young learners (3-6 year olds)?
TEACHERS’ INTERVIEW FORM
I like to play couples: with a set of cards with pictures or drawings the students did, and another set with words,
you have to put the cards on the ground so nobody can see and when you get a correct name and picture you
get a point.
Mimic: show one student a word or picture of an animal, verb, etc and that student has to use body language to
describe it to the class.
5. What are some methods you use for classroom management? Please mention the age and level of
the students you would use the methods with.
There are 3 rules.Which are repeated everyday when they are the youngest and less and less the older they are.
1 Speak English - all ages
2 Raise your hand - until they become mature enough to not need the rules repeated.
3 Still down correctly - until young learners
3 Stay focused and keep talking with your group - once group work becomes very pronounced, I stop using rule 2
6. Please provide an example of how you would differentiate between past simple and present perfect
in class.
First I would describe the uses of both:
Present Perfect:Actions that happened in the past but we do not know when or actions that started in the past
and continue in the present.
Past simple: Actions started and finished in the past or actions that happened at a stated time in the past.
I would explain this and right after provide an image or draw on the board and write sentences like.
-The bank has been robbed. -She has worked in this bank for five years (She still works there)
-He robbed the bank yesterday. -She worked in this bank for five years (Not anymore)
7. Please list two specific pronunciation problems your students had and detail how you worked with
them to overcome those difficulties.
I made dictations to make them listen to the “-S”, when there was a piece of text to read I made them read it in
plural on top traditional pronunciation exercises and me remarking the -S or explaining how do I position my
tongue.
With longer words, like vegetables I use my fingers to mark the syllables
8. How much support do you feel you might need in terms of planning?
I am flexible when it comes to planning, as I can develop everything myself or I can develop a planning based on
certain week goals, monthly goals, etc. To be more precise about this topic I need more information about the
materials that I have access to, books, touchscreens, flashcards
9. Teachers at Apollo Junior are expected to teach across a wide range of age and abilities, from VYL to

sessions and to be observed. How do you feel about professional development?
I think that to continue learning is very important.
11. What are your future EFtL plans?

to blend into the Vietnamese society.
