Advanced PL Troubleshooting Tips

1) The document provides 14 tips for using Emeraude operating software, including starting with simple solutions when troubleshooting, using match views and not disallowing them, and storing screen presentations using the "Screen Captures" tool. 2) Additional tips include using the "highlight" button to confirm channel selection, using the "full cross" option for the cursor, and following all tabs when constraining PVT properties. 3) The final tips recommend keeping records of passes selected for reference channels, keeping screens simple, using the program as designed by setting units correctly upfront, and setting a bottom calculation zone below the lowest perforation when logs lack bottom data.

Tips
1. When troubleshooting strange results, start with simple solutions!

2. Stress use of match views…. Do not disallow.

3. Try to get downhole density measurements of various phase densities for entry into PVT for
constraints or else adjust measurements to trusted PVT

4. Use data store to copy reference channels, when eliminating channels from interpretations when
experimenting with various interpretation options.

5. When generating initial “continuous” interpretation, change the sample interval for speeding up.

6. Store screen presentations using “Screen Captures”

7. Always use highlight (“sunshine”) button to confirm selection of selected channel on the desktop.

8. Use “full cross” option for the cursor

9. When constraining PVT, always follow ALL the remaining tabs in the PVT dialogue in order.

10. When you wish to wipe the “Interpretation” clean, and restart from scratch, recommend to re-do
VAPP which assures the user that any existing interpretation elements are removed.

Tips

11. Keep a record of the passes selected for creation of reference channels.
12. Keep the screen simple!.. e.g. when selecting spinner calibration zones, only present the SPIN,
CS and DENS data.. e.g. when selecting calculation zones, only present the reference channel
user view and the Vapp on the screen.
13. Use the program the way it was designed…. Moving forward!… Try to avoid going skipping
around the program e.g. set all your units correctly at the beginning.
14. With sanded perfs, or logs without data to bottom, set a bottom calculation zone below
lowermost perf and manually set Vm = 0.
