1 GENERAL
1.1 Purpose
This standard defines the requirements for single-core low voltage insulated cables. This standard is
based upon, and makes references to the ISO 6722-1 international standard.
2 REFERENCES
(INSTRUCTIONS: List all documents referenced WITHIN the standard. Unless otherwise specified, use
only the latest version of the document.
- List only those standards that are readily available and are explicitly referred to in this specification.
- Reference documents by document number and title. NOTE: A MS WORD Table format shall be used (See
table below).
- All the referenced documents must be available in English.)

6 MATERIAL CHARACTERISTICS
The insulation shall be homogeneous and shall be placed concentrically within commercial tolerances
about the conductor. The insulation shall adhere closely to, but strip readily from, the conductors leaving
them in suitable condition for terminating.
The insulation surface shall be smooth and free from defects, including but not limited to, pits, cracks, or
ridges. The insulation shall be in a suitable condition for use in sealed applications.
7 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
(INSTRUCTIONS: If necessary, define the composition. Provide associated industry/international
designations that may be applicable to (e.g. UNS, ISO, AISI/SAE, JIS, ASTM, etc. if applicable. Express
formulations in tolerance values.)
Not applicable.

8.1.3 Conductor
Conductors shall meet all the requirements of ISO 6722-1 with the exception of stranding and
2
dimensions, which shall conform to Table 4. For conductors of ≤ 3mm , the maximum strand lay-length
shall conform to the following:
2 Max Lay Length
Conductor Size (mm )
(mm)
0.35 33
0.5 - 3 50
Minimum conductor strand count and diameter shall comply with Table 4. Strand count according to
Structure A, B, or C shall be agreed upon with the Chrysler Power & Signal Distribution Engineering
department before any testing begins. The finished cable shall meet the resistance requirements as
defined in ISO 6722.
The example in Figure 1 details the order of the cable identification code. All cable identification codes
shall contain four characters.

Striped cable is obtained by using a solid base color with a single or double continuous stripe.
(See Figure 2) Stripe color must be readily distinguishable from the base color on all cable sizes.
The individual stripe shall be a minimum of 7% wide, but not more than 15% of the circumference of the
wire. The stripe shall meet the same performance requirements as the base insulation temperature class.
2
Where band marking is specified (for sizes 0.13 and 0.22 mm ), the band mark shall be 3 mm +/- 1 mm
wide with a 25 mm +/- 5 mm pitch.

Prepare twenty-five (25) samples of 40 mm +/- 0.5 mm long. Do not bend the wire prior to testing. Insert
the test wire in the appropriate cavities of the test fixture. The hole diameter shall not exceed the
maximum cable diameter for a specific wire size by more than +/- 0.03 mm. Ensure that the fixture and
the wire are vertically aligned with each other. Apply a compressive force at the constant speed of 50 +/-
0.5 mm/minute and record the highest force attained as the wire is being compressed.
