RESEARCH PLAN CHECKLIST
For this UX Project, I used interviews as the main research method, because it’s a sensitive

• Main concern was not knowing how to properly eat in order to get all the essential amino-

• When first changing their lifestyle, vegans were concerned about deficiencies, meal-

• The main reason plant-based people chose this lifestyle is on account of health and
environmental issues.

I continued the discovery phase by identifying companies and products that are trying to
solve the same problem and make life easier while transitioning to a meat-less diet. After,
I did a competitive analysis that guided me in finding the strengths and weaknesses of my
competitors. I analyzed and compared their content, then I identified areas of improvement.

I usually use this phase to fully understand the goal of my design project, to articulate the
design problem and provide a clear objective to work towards.
I used the affinity diagram method to capture and synthesise my research findings. Here you
can see the clusters I created with insights from the interviews. I grouped them and I created
themes that will help me further with persona creation.
This step helped me identify a couple strategy points that would effectively inform the rest of
the design process.

the gap between the problem and the desired state or the goal of a product.

Trisha needs help with her meal planning. She uses this app to guide her through her diet 5. Test
change, but also to educate herself about her new lifestyle.
Since this was a time-boxed challenge and I’ve discovered it not long before the deadline, I
did not have enough time to create screens for every task, scenario or use-case for the first
round of testing, so I went for an exploratory kind of session where I asked the participants to
give their opinion about what they saw, express their impressions about the concept, find out if
there’s something confusing and discover their assumptions about the purpose of the app.
I used Invision to test the screens with 4 of the people I interviewed at the beginning of the
project. I would have wanted this to be an in-person experience so I could decipher their body
language cues, but considering the fact that we are going through a global pandemic, I had
to settle for Zoom calls.
I shared my screen and gave the other person remote control over my mouse so I can
evaluate how he engaged with the proposed screens. I was really curious how my virtual
assistant idea will be received by my audience.

I created a few low-fidelity screens for the first round of user testing session.
While creating these screens I focused on: differentiate between elements of each page and the value of the capabilities presented.
• Leveraging existing mental models of people, because we approach every new system with
a mental model in mind and we presume how the system could work based on our experience 6. Iterate
with other systems that are similar.

goals for this year is to improve my UI skills
• Providing context, showing how everything interconnects.

Next steps:
I scheduled a few usability sessions for next week to determine what issues people are
encountering while interacting with the prototype, to gather unbiased feedback and get
insights that will help me create a better overall user experience for my audience. There are
still plenty to iterate on and improve the usability of this concept.
Now I’m working on creating a task-based usability test plan for the next testing sessions.
P.S. I strongly believe we need to raise awareness between the climate crisis and animal
consumption in every way we can.

represents the strength, stability & growth- the element shows the outcome of the ‘made in
India’ product, to the country i.e the economic stability & growth.
The logo has been designed to simplest for the memory retention & usability purpose. The
chakra from the flag has been taken at the center, it makes it more viable especially at the
time of blind embossing (usually done in furniture) or at the place where colors can’t be used.
Fews mockups to the final look of the symbol on packaging or product has been shown in

Description -
This logo is the result of a lot of brainstorming which is simplified to minimal for memory
retention. India if personified, Aatmanirbhar meant the self-dependence or self-reliance in
terms of manufacturing, finance, safety & so on.
The logo is basically representing a person happy, satisfied & full of joy. As per Maslow’s
hierarchy of needs by Abraham Maslow, people are motivated by five basic categories of
needs: physiological, safety, love, esteem, and self-actualization, which was also derived
during the brainstorming for the word Aatmanirbhar.
The upward-pointing triangle represents the strength, stability & growth which is achieved on
being “Aatmanirbhar”.

The process started with the scale down prototypes using a sun board strip, which was inspired
from embroidery frames & other locking mechanisms. A series of things were taken special My takeaway from the project-
consideration like - the bamboo‘s grains properties which restricts the slats to be straight The best design is simplest, because the effortlessness of the result belies what went on. And

‘The terracotta installation’ was designed at Rhizome, Ahmedabad for a resort, “woods at
Sasan” (Junagadh, Gujarat).
The installation was inspired by Calder mobile. The basic structure was made from the Brass
pipe which was brushed polish for the antique finish after welding the u-shaped hooks for
hanging the terracotta pots.
The pivot the top was redesigned for the overall movement of the installation & restricting the
metal breakage due to the friction & rubbing effect. A hemisphere was welded at the top of
the rod which goes inside the canopy. The bend & the length of the hollow pipe was designed
after considering the approx weight of each terracotta lamps to avoid collision of the lamps
during movement.
Further a no. of forms & texture (puncturing & holes) was tested for the light effect coming out.
A proportionally bigger lamp was designed in the installation to create a dramatic effect.
The different color of the lamps was obtained from the mineral rocks, which was ground and
applied before the firing process.

Hemispherical hollow ball was welded to the pipe coming from Canopy to avoid the metal
friction which caused the breakage of the hook the top. The load was distributed from the
hook to the hemispherical ball which also cause easy frictionless movement.
The wiring for electricity flow has been done internally from the hollow hemispherical ball to
all the hollow pipes which makes it neat. Teak wood has been used in the holder with soft
edges for better fitting inside the curved top of the lamps.

Description -
• After elaborated research about Materials (like the limitation of the bamboo, metals,
rubbers, plating & many more) and existing Clips in the market; sketches & initial prototypes
with actual material was made to check the effectiveness of the proposed mechanism.
• Along with it, the tensile strength of metal material including stainless steel & its variations
were considered for the strength, availability & cost. Later on, for aesthetic, few variation/
prototypes were made.
• Further, for the Graduation Project, the project was extended to stationery products,
in which rubber bands were used which solves the purpose of holding papers & other
lightweight products. It also reduces the cost & gave it a more minimal look.
• Two collections were made from Two different clips (Long Japanese look & circular clip)
with two different mechanisms (SS ring & rubber band) were made - Stationery collection

Brief -
Design a stationery collection/paper organizer/display kind of thing (which can also be used
for Rhizome’s exhibitions), so for that product category, we need to reduce the production cost
of Bamboo clips.
-Replacing spring steel ring by rubber - The rubber mechanism is inspired by ‘Button Masala
by Designer Ankit Sharma’ who uses rubber to make wearable clothes without stitching.
Primary & secondary research was done to know the market, mechanism & sustainability
aspect for this product line. Apart from online research on various materials like rubber
magnet, cork, it also included the visit to rubber factory & magnet retailers.

Avani collection
The new collection named Avani because of it features: ‘faux tiger claws’ which is made from
gemstones. The collection is a take on the cultural sustainability. The brand is strongly against
hunting and the trophy jewelry featuring animal parts such as tiger claws which celebrated
bloodsports. However, we feel that not finding a way to ensure this not so happy past- which
is also our heritage- is remembered, or not making sustainable changes in the means of
making tiger claw jewelry is a giant misstep.
That is why our collection ‘Avani’ (named after the tigress and her cubs who were killed in
cold blood a while ago in Gujarat) is important to us. We want to keep the tiger claw pieces
remembered lest we forget. We also want that remembrance to be in a manner that is positive
and mindful and acknowledges the damage humans have done to nature & simultaneously
human efforts towards a new culture of sustainability.
