Good Day Victory Silang.

Good Day mga FAITHLINERS.

Welcome to Victory Silang Online Worship Service.
I am Ricky, one of the leaders.

For the past months, we are savoring the BOOK OF ROMANS. And
last week, we have this LOVE OF GOD 
His love is pure, His love is UNCHANGING & EVERLASTING.
Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

For it is Jesus Christ who paid the penalty of our sin – the totality
of it.

That displayed the LOVE OF GOD for all his people.

Everlasting, pure & unchanging.

NOW for today, let us have:

ROMANS 9:15 -16

15
For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have
mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have
compassion.”  16  So then it depends not on human will or
exertion, but on God, who has mercy.  17  For the Scripture
says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you
up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name
might be proclaimed in all the earth.”  18  So then he has
mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he
wills.

Remember that Romans 9:15 is a quote from Exodus 33:19.

GOD IS FREE TO ACT ACCORDING TO HIS
REDEMPTIVE PURPOSES.
GOD IS SOVEREIGN.
GOD IS SOVEREIGN TO ACT TO COMPLETE & FULFILL
HIS REDEMPTIVE PURPOSES.

What a HARD TRUTH. Hard to understand. Hard to grasp but GOD

IS SOVEREIGN in his redemptive purposes.

Remember that this redemptive process is all about God.

PLAN & INITIATED by GOD
FULFILLED by God through Christ Jesus.

From the very beginning, God chose us.

WE are chosen.
We have a place in his kingdom.
And it is displayed then in His chosen people ISRAEL.
But Israelites are hard – headed, stiff – necked people.
They forgot that they are chosen for them to reveal the glory of
God to all of the earth.
They believed that by keeping the commandments by works will
save them.
They forget that Jesus Christ is the end of all the prophecies and
fulfillment of Commandments.

But still, God will always redeem Israel and Israelites.

God will never leave and forget them.
How sovereign God is – that even though they are hard headed,
stiff-necked, God sent his son to rescue them to all mankind from
the effects of sin.
God’s CHOICES are in mercy.

MERCY  steadfast, covenant loyalty

God’s mercy & election are corporate – also to believing Jews and
believing Gentiles

NOTE!
God’s unchanging character – MERCY – not human performance.
MERCY through selection will eventually reach all who
believe in CHRIST.
This OPENS THE DOOR OF FAITH to all (Rom 5:18 – 19).

Romans 9:17 – 18
Powerful universal quote from Exodus 9:16 (and verse 18 is the
conclusion drawn from the quote).
Pharaoh is said to have hardened his own heart (Exo 8:15, 19, 32;
9:34)
God said to have hardened Pharaoh’s heart (Exo 4:21, 7:3, 9:12,
10:20,27, 11:10)

This is to show GOD’s SOVEREIGNTY.

Pharaoh is responsible for his choices.

God uses Pharaoh’s arrogance, stubborn personality to accomplish

His will for Israel. (Rom 9:18)

NOTE & REMEMBER!

The purpose of God’s actions with Pharaoh were redemptive
purpose.
1. To show God’s power
2. To reveal God to Egypt and to the whole earth
God uses Pharaoh to reveal himself to the needy world.
He will do the same to the unbelieving Israel (Romans 11)

OUR RESPONSE:
Romans 10:1
Like Paul, our hearts desire and prayer to God for them is
that they may be saved.

WE can only pray and preach the Gospel to them

We can only pray and preach Jesus Christ to them.

John 14:6
“JESUS is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the
father except through Him. “

John 6:44
No one comes to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.

Therefore, let us remember that everything is with God’s power

and control. We can only pray that they will submit to God’s
righteousness and sovereignty.
