Summary of the Discussion
1. Importance of this course
• From the perspectives of a business person, service holder in local/multinational
companies, student of international business studies, or only a student of business
discipline
2. Course contents
• Theme 1: Setup the ground for an export business
• Theme 2: Payment and pricing issues in export business
• Theme 3: Mixed issues consisting trade documents, transports, importing and
trade in services
3. Pre-requisite for this course
• Theory and practices of international business, International economics,
International marketing, International financial management, and International
relations
4. Group assessments (presentations)
• Record the presentation with a power point slides file not exceeding 20 minutes.
Use Zoom app/mobile app/any convenient way to record the presentation as a
video.
5. Individual assessments (term paper, short essay and quiz)
• Ensure proper class attendance. Alternative assessment like quizzes and essay
writing will be guided later in detail.
6. Orientation/focus during teaching sessions
• Think yourself as a sole proprietor or a partner of a venture categorized as Small
and Medium Enterprise. Now consider that you produce goods or services that
competitive enough in the local market and can export in the international market.
You may also think of an existing business that you know or set a hypothetical one
in your mind. Otherwise, put yourself in the international business department of
a local/multinational company and consider your responsibility to promote your
companies' products/services in international markets. Over the development of
the course, connect different concepts and lectures to your intended business,
develop your understanding, and learn the basics of exporting (importing).
