BUILD UP RATE Concrete Work Question

The document provides information to calculate the build-up rate for one cubic meter of reinforced concrete mix using a concrete mixer. It includes the material costs for cement, fine aggregate, and coarse aggregate. It also lists the rental rate for the concrete mixer machine, its productivity, number of laborers needed, and labor costs. Using this information, it outlines the steps to calculate the material costs, labor costs, machine costs, total costs, and profit to determine the overall build-up rate for one cubic meter of concrete mix.

  • Build Up Rate for Concrete Works: Covers calculations and tables for determining the build-up rate for reinforced concrete works including material, labour, and machine costs.

BUILD UP RATE

CONCRETING WORKS

Table 1 shows relevant information for mixing/preparation of reinforced concrete ([Link] with
25 mm aggregate) for pad foundation using concrete mixer with 7/8 capacity. Calculate build-
up rate for one (1) metre cubic of the concrete.

Table 1

Item Labour constant @ Rate @ %

Cement (1280 kg/m3) RM 220.00/tonne

Fine aggregate (1500 kg/m3) RM 35.00/tonne
Course aggregate (1600 kg/m3) RM 40.00/tonne
Rental rate of concrete mixer machine (6 days/week) RM 200.00/week
Productivity of concrete mixer machine 5m3/hour
No. of labours needed to operate concrete mixer machine 3 labours/machine
Labour constant (productivity) for concrete mixing 3 hours/m3
Concrete wastage 50%
Worker salary (8 hours working/day) RM 40.00/day
Profit and management cost 20%

1 Material Cost

a) 1 metre cubic of cement

1 * 1280/1000 @ RM220.00

b) 2 metre cubic of sand

c) 4 metre cubic of aggregates

Total material cost for 7 meter cubic of concrete:

Add 50% for wastage
= 50% x

Total cost for concrete 7 meter cubic concrete:

Thus, for one (1) metre cubic concrete is:

2 Labour Cost

a) Given man-hour to produce one (1) metre cubic concrete

is ___ hours.

b) Labour is paid RM_____ daily

Thus, labour cost for one (1) meter cubic concrete:

= _ hours @ RM_____ / _ hrs

= RM________ ________

3 Machine Cost

a) Rental rate for concrete mixer including maintenance for

one (1) day costs RM_______. Therefore, rate for one (1)
hour is RM_______.
________

b) Payment for three (3) labours in handling the concrete

mixer
= __ @ RM_______ / __ ________
Thus, total mix concrete rental cost and labour cost for
handling the machine are:
________

__m3 concrete mix are produced in an hour. Therefore,

machine cost for one (1) meter cubic concrete
= RM______ / __m3
________
4 Cost rate for concrete mix in one (1) meter cubic (m3)
= RM_____+ RM_____+ RM_____
= RM_____ _______

5 Add profit (20%)

= RM_____x 20%
= RM ______ _______

TOTAL OVERALL COST FOR ONE (1) METER CUBIC (M3) _______
