Greetings!
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 1172 s. 2006, the Regional Inter-Agency Council
Against Trafficking- Child Pornography- Violence Against Women (RIACAT-CP-VAWC) will
be spearheading the annual observance of 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against
Women (VAW) on November 25 to December 12, 2019.
The 18-Day Campaign to End VAW supports the Philippine government’s goal of protecting
the human rights of women and girls by upholding its commitment to address all forms of
gender-based violence as enshrined in the 1987 Constitution. By virtue of Republic Act 10398
or the Act declaring November 25 of every year as the National Consciousness Day for the
Elimination of VAWC, government agencies are mandated to raise awareness on the problem
of violence and the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls.
Adopting the theme “VAW-free community starts with Me” for year 2016 to 2021, the
campaign emphasizes everyone’s commitment and contributions on ending VAW, and
presents an ideal picture of a VAW-free community, thus inspiring the general public to make
a personal commitment to end violence against women and children. This way, we can raise
the awareness and consciousness of a wider audience in taking action on VAW as a public
issue.
Adapting to the new normal during this Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the
Technical Working came up with series of activities that do not require public gatherings in
compliance with the “Adoption of Economy Measures in the Government Due to the
Emergency Health Situation” and the Executive Order No. 052020-04 adopting Resolution No.
20 issued by the National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious
Diseases.
In this regard, we would like to invite you together with your permanent representatives
and key focal persons to attend the series of activities proposed by the Technical Working
Group Committee in observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW. Please take note of
the details of each activity below.
