Chief Inspector Takeshi Kido Overview

Takeshi Kido is the head of the Kempeitai stationed in San Francisco. He is tasked with maintaining order and hunting down members of the Resistance. As a ranking Kempeitai officer, he interrogates Frank about Juliana Crain's whereabouts. After an assassination attempt on the Crown Prince, Kido investigates but decides to pretend his investigation was fruitless to prevent war between Japan and Germany. He is later promoted after surviving an explosion at the Kempeitai building that kills his assistant and other senior members.

Chief Inspector Takeshi Kido is the cold and calculating head of the Kempeitai stationed in San
Francisco at the Nippon Building. He is tasked with maintaining order, driven by a strict code of
honor directed by military directives. His every action is done in service to this mandate. As
the Japanese were withdrawing from the Pacific States, he made a deal to be a Special Adviser to
the Yakuza to allow his son to freely go back home to Japan.

Biography
Background
During World War II, he fought in the battle at the Solomon Islands and as the war ended, he was
one of the soldiers who helped liberate the Manzanar US concentration camp. He left his family in
Koriyama City, Fukushima prefecture, and maybe his home town.

In 1947, he was appointed as the Chief Inspector of the Kempeitai.

Season One
He is often portrayed together with Trade Minister Tagomi and his assistant Hiroyuki Yoshida. As a
ranking officer of the Kempeitai, his primary duty is hunting down members of the Resistance. He
apprehends and interrogates Frank about the whereabouts of Juliana Crain. He threatens to kill
Frank's sister and her children to pressure Frank. When fake films are found Kido presumes Frank is
innocent, but Frank's sister and her children were already killed.

After the assassination attempt on the Crown Prince, Kido is tasked with finding the perpetrator,
pretending to believing it to be Frank. However, it is revealed by the leader of the Yakuza to be a
Nazi plot to lure the Empire into a war between the two countries. Kido decides to commit seppuku
and pretend his investigation was fruitless to save his Empire from destruction at the hands of the
Germans. He is stopped, however.

Season Two
Kido investigates the assault on a Kempeitai guard post. He tries to find the woman who escaped
the scene, which is Juliana Crain. However, she manages to elude him by seeking political asylum in
the Greater Nazi Reich of New York City. He tries to get her back, but Odergruppenfuhrer John
Smith protects her from this fate.
Back in the Japanese Pacific States, a explosion in the Kempeitai building inside of San Francisco
almost kills Kido, but he survives. The explosion kills Kido's assistant, Hiroyuki Yoshida and it leaves
him stunned. Trade Minister Tagomi was also present at the time of the explosion, however he was
in a car safely away from the building. Kido is then promoted, as all other senior members in the
Kempeitai building have died, including General Hidehisa Onoda.
