TASK ACTIVITY : Imagine that you are a teacher/educator.

You are going to conduct a lesson on


environmental issues. Suggest ways on you are going to proceed with the discussion. Each level will be
given five (5) points.

Ways on Conducting a Lesson on Environmental Issues

Beginning : Myself, as a teacher on this scenario, before I would proceed on the proper discussion of the
topic, I have to get first my student’s attention and interest by asking their initial knowledge or awareness
on some environmental issues present on their own community. It will be just a little sharing of personal
experiences with regards to such issues and that will become the starting point of preparing their mind
and mood to deal with our lesson. The objective and learning outcomes will be presented so each will
have to take collaboration on reaching the goals of the lesson. I am also thinking of showing them an
interesting presentations or videos that includes facts and current news about the topic.

Middle: At this pace , after I have introduced to them the environmental issues at the beginning, we will
also further discuss the causes and effects of these problems. The importance of environment in the lives
of all human beings and what will happen if these environmental issues come to its worst. I will also give
the spotlight to my students to share their ideas or point of view regarding to the presentation they have
seen. Questions and further discussions to the topic is taken on the middle part of the discussion. Students
can add their own insight about the environmental issues or even share a trivia that they have already
learned.

Level : The end of the lesson , is not the end of their learning. At this time, the most important part is
getting some significant reflection from the students about this environmental issues. The questions of
what are their actions towards the environment. What can they contribute as a solution for these
problems? Are they doing something ? Because it is easy to say that we are going to do this or that and
sometimes what was missing is putting our words into actions. I have to make my students realize that
since they now have the awareness of these environmental issues , they should also be aware of their
own actions towards it. I might give a group activity for my class to better engage themselves on
developing the value of being sensitive to nature , to make them appreciate more the essential role of the
environment to their lives.
