Date: 2012/03/13
System Requirements for VPlus Installation:

Operating System: Windows XP

Windows Vista
Windows 7

Free diskspace: min. 210 MB

For the installation of VPlus on your computer you require local administration rights.

Compatibility notes:

vcb-files: Parameter files (*.vcb) created with former VPlus versions

can be opened with VPlus 7.

vsc-files: Scope files (*.vsc), ) created with former VPlus versions

can be opened with VPlus 7.

vcv-files: "Actual Values Windows" (*.vcv / VVisual) created with former VPlus versions
(before 7.x), CANNOT be opened with VPlus 7. These files must be rewritten once.

Note: New users and also users that are familiar with pre-releases of VPlus
will find important notes in the appendix "Usage of VPlus".

Before installing VPlus

It is strongly recommended to save existing vcb-/vsc-files from the \VPlus\data directory to a backup
directory.

If there is a former VPlus installation on the computer it is strongly recommended to uninstall this
version first. Depending on the release of the old VPlus version you will find the old installation in the
Windows software management under „VPlus x.y“ or „Bonfiglioli Vectron VPlus x.y“.

Remaining directories and files should be deleted by hand. Depending on the release of the old VPlus
version you will find these files or directories under “c:\program files\VPlus” or “c:\Vectron\VPlus”.
Starting the VPlus Installation
The installation of VPlus 7 can be started from different media. Independent of the media you will find
a specific file and directory structure:

To start the installation please execute the Setup.exe file.

Installation Sequence

When starting Setup.exe the Setup Assistant prepares the installation.

First the End-User-License-Agreement is displayed.

Please read this License Agreement carefully. For installation of VPlus the License Agreement must be
accepted by left mouse click to “I accept”. If you do not agree with this License Agreement please do
a left mouse click to “I don’t accept”. Then VPlus is not installed.
After a short time a pop-up window appears:

This window must be acknowledged with "Yes". This routine installs the driver for a USB/COM-
Adapter, used for AgilE inverter type communication with VPlus via service port X21.

IMPORTANT: Please read the appendix "USB Driver Configuration"!

With "Yes" the Windows operating system starts the device driver installation assistant.

Please acknowledge this with "Continue". The installation of the necessary drivers will then start.
When the driver installation is finished a window pops up:

This window must be acknowledged with "Finish".

The VPlus 7 installation is now started. The start-up of the installation may take some minutes
depending on the performance of your computer. Please be patient.

After preparing the installation files the VPlus start-up window appears:

Please acknowledge this window with "Next".

A window now opens in which the installation directory and usage can be changed.

Note: It is strongly recommended to leave the settings unchanged.

Please acknowledge this window with "Next". The confirmation window for the final start of VPlus 7
installation pops up:

Acknowledge this window with "Next" as well. The installation of VPlus is then started.

During the VPlus installation the install window reports the progress of the installation:
Please wait until the installation is finished. The completion of the installation is reported by the
"Installation Complete" window:

Please acknowledge this window with "Close". The VPlus installation will be finished now.

A small window appears “Setting file permissions”. While this window is displayed the access rights to
VPlus folders are set. When this window disappears the VPlus installation is completed.

You will now find three icons on your computer desktop created by the setup routine.

A double-click on these icons will start the respective application.

The central controlling element of VPlus is the "Vectron Inverter Manager". From here all other
applications can be started. The desktop icons "Vectron Oscilloscope" and "Vectron Visualisation" can
only be used if the appropriate files have already been created.
Please see the notes in appendix "Usage of VPlus",
Appendix

Usage of VPlus
When using VPlus please observe the VPlus context help. After starting "Vectron Inverter Manager"
help is always available by pressing "F1".

It is strongly recommended to read the VPlus help before using VPlus. Here you will find the
necessary information in order to use VPlus effectively.

The Inverter Manager is the central control unit of VPlus. Selecting an icon ("left" mouse-click) for
"Interface", "COMx" or inverters connected to interfaces, activates the associated buttons/functions
that then can be activated immediately without previously opening a parameter window.
With a "right" mouse-click on an icon a context menu opens from where these functions can also be
started.

Basic settings for VPlus, e.g. "Language" are performed via the "Properties" button in the Inverter
Manager.

Changes only become active after a restart of VPlus!

Properties
Adding Interfaces
Interfaces can be added by clicking one of the active buttons whenever the "Interface" Icon is
selected.

Starting Functions for an Inverter without previously reading in a Parameter Window
In order to do this the desired inverter must be selected with a "left" mouse-click
.
Write parameter values from a file to the inverter
Open Parameter Window
Open Actual Values Window
Start Setup-Wizard
Execute Application Macros
Start Terminal Monitor
Start Scope Function
Open Status Window
VPLC starten (grafic user
interface for the Function
Table)

The functions refer to the selected inverter.

The Parameter Window of an Inverter is opened via the Inverter Manager. The are three ways of
doing this: the "Start Parameter-Window" button, the Context Menu or a double "left" mouse-click on
the desired inverter in the Inverter Manager opens a Parameter Window in which the current values of
the parameters of the selected inverter are displayed.

In the Parameter Window all of the relevant parameters are displayed in a structural form. Various
functions and operations can be started via the toolbar and the menus.

Context sensitive help is available for the Parameter Window. The instructions manual is opened at
the appropriate place with a "right" mouse-click on a parameter number in the Parameter Window.
Help System
Online help is always available within VPlus via the [F1] function key. This help is context sensitive
and opens the instructions manual at the appropriate place.

The VPlus help system is based on the Windows "chm" standard help format (compiled HTML).

This format is directly supported by the Windows Help System and enables comfortable navigation
within the documents. In order to display the chm-Documents, they must be present on the local hard
drive of the computer (e.g. drive c:\). This is automatically setup in this way after installation of VPlus.

You can find chm-files of the VPlus Help System in the following directories:

• VPlus\bin
• VPlus\setup
• VPlus\manuals …

If these chm-Dateien are not correctly displayed, then you should proceed as follows:
Open the stated directories with Explorer und navigate to the chm-Files in the sub-directories. Then
"right" click on the chm-files and select the "Properties" context menu. Then, in this window, click
"Unblock" under "Security". After this the chm-files can be opened normally.
USB Driver Configuration
Before the USB/COM-Adapter, used for AgilE inverter type communication with VPlus via service port
X21, is connected to your computer for the first time, the driver installation must be carried out.
Otherwise the Windows operating system (depending on the type of operating system) installs a
standard driver. Such a standard driver does not support full functionality and causes communication
problems.

For the "Vectron Oscilloscope" Function, the driver settings must be adjusted for proper functionality.
This setting causes a continuous scope display without "jerking".
After installing the driver the USB/COM-Adapter must be connected to the computer. The
driver can then be configured in the Device-Manager.

To change the settings please "right" mouse-click on the "Computer" symbol and choose
"administrate" and then the "Device Manager". In the Device Manager open "Connections (COM and
LPT)"

"Right" mouse-click on the port created by the operating system for the USB/COM-Adapter and
choose "Properties" from the drop-down menu.
The USB/COM-Adapter pops up with the properties window. You can see that the correct port has
been selected by the manufacturer information "FTDI".

Choose the "connection settings" folder and there "Extended…".

In the "extended settings/properties" window click on the "delay time" drop-down box and set the
delay time to 1 ms.

Acknowledge this setting with "Okay" (2 times). The driver has now the optimal settings.
