Queen Hatshepsut: Egypt's Female Pharaoh

Queen Hatshcpsut of Egypt initially served as regent for her stepson Thutmose III after her husband's death. However, once she came of age, she took full control of the government, adopting royal dress and symbols of kingship. As one of the few queens to rule Egypt in her own right, she built a lavish temple to commemorate her reign, ruling for 20 years until Thutmose reclaimed the throne and destroyed parts of her memorial in vengeance.
