History of the Profession
Architecture was first used when humans started building huts, buildings, and other structures
10,000Bc. The first architect was in 2600Bc, his name was Imhotep. He worked for the Pharaoh and he
designed the pyramids.
Daily Professional Tasks
Architects design and plan out buildings for construction. They design buildings so the construction team
knows what to build and how to build it. Architects need to make sure the building they are designing is
strong and sturdy.
Careers
Surveyors, Landscape architects, drafters.
Surveyors inspect buildings and make sure they are no problems with the building. Landscape architects
design land around a building to make it look more appealing. Drafters make drawings of building to
make sure they are ready to be built.
Education Requirements
Bachelors degree, 5 years of college
Professional Requirements (licensures, etc.)
To become an architect a bachelors degree, which takes 5 years to get and Interning for an architect
company is recommended.

Surveyor make on average $52,000 a year. Drafters make on average $32,000 a year. Landscape
architects make on average $68,000 a year.
