This document summarizes a lesson plan and project presentation created for a course on using internet tools in the classroom. The lesson plan was designed to align with both content and student technology standards, and to provide collaborative, authentic learning experiences for students. Formative and summative assessments were used to evaluate student learning and technology literacy. Feedback indicated students were highly engaged with opportunities to communicate, create, think critically and collaborate. Teachers subsequently implemented the digital tools in their own classrooms.

1 Content Standards & Student Technology Standards - model and facilitate the design and
implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences aligned with student content
standards and student technology standards.
_____________________________________________________________________
The Lesson Plan and Project Presentation was completed in ITEC 7430, Internet Tools for
the Classroom. During this course, I explored a variety of digital tools and developed strategies
for effective classroom implementation. I researched and applied systematic instructional
methods and models for infusing internet tools into the P-12 educational setting in innovative
ways. As a result, I created lessons that are relevant, highly motivating, and mentally engaging.
Content Standards: ELAGSE4RL4, ELAGSE4L4, ELAGSE4L5
ISTE Student Standards: 3c,6a-6d, 7b-7c
The purpose of the lesson plan was planning and implementing collaborative learning
strategies associated with technology tools. I designed and implemented authentic, Internet-
enhanced learning experiences for all students addressing both content and student technology
standards. This learning experienced provided opportunities for learners to communicate,
create, critically think, and collaborate while deepening their understanding of figurative
language. I facilitated collaborative planning sessions where I used the formative and
summative portion of this lesson as a model for selecting effective tools and resources to assess
student learning and technology literacy on an ongoing basis. I also modeled how to effectively
infuse the 4Cs throughout learning opportunities in ways that enhance content.
As a result of completing the Lesson Plan Project, I added to my toolbox of Web 2.0 Tools
while growing my innovative abilities to infuse technology throughout content. My ability to
facilitate digital learning professional learning improved tremendously as a result of this course
and project. I also learned how to apply a variety of research-based best practices including
differentiation techniques, higher order thinking skills, and learner-centered strategies when
designing Internet-enhanced learning experiences. To improve this artifact, I would have
broadened my audience to include a more diverse population. I implemented the lesson with
my gifted- ELL small group. This change would have served as a model of effectiveness beyond
the small subgroup initially engaged.
The Lesson Plan Project impacted staff development and student learning in a variety of
ways. When observed and interviewed students demonstrated increased engagement and
learning outcomes related to the standards addressed. Student learning was positively
impacted by opportunities to engage in the 4Cs as assessed by both formative and summative
assessments. After sharing the digital tools used to embed the 4Cs into this lesson, 3 rd-5th grade
ELA teachers were observed implementing in their classrooms. I was also invited to co-teach
and model effective use of identified Web 2.0 tools in other classes on an ongoing basis.
