Reflection – Standard 6.2
6.2 Reflection - regularly evaluates and reflects on their professional practice and dispositions to
improve and strengthen their ability to effectively model and facilitate technology-enhanced
learning experiences.

At the close of each course in the Instructional Technology program, we were required to
complete a reflection, looking back at what we learned and how we could apply that information
to our personal and professional practices. All of my reflections, which are catalogued by course
number and title, are housed in a Weebly Blog, which serves as the artifact for Element 6.2.
Standard Six, Candidate Professional Growth and Development, continues with Element 6.2,
which requires regular evaluation and reflection upon professional practice and dispositions.
Throughout the length of this program, I had to reflect and evaluate my progress through a
number of varying assignments. Projects that required evaluating emerging technology made me
look at a tool’s purpose and how it would or should fit in my instruction. Reviews using tools
such as the Georgia School Assessment Performance Standards (GSAPS) allowed me the
opportunity to evaluate on my school’s performance, reflect on how my practice affected such
performance, and create recommendations for improvement and increased success. Overall, the
Weebly Blog provided a place for my thoughts to live longer than an assignment drop box and I
am very grateful to be able to look back at what I thought at the beginning of this adventure in
the Summer of 2019. I know that my professional practice and dispositions have changed for the
better since starting this program.
Through my Weebly Blog posts and reflections, I have come to realize that the technology is
there for any teacher to use; not just the young and not just for the content areas for which
technology use is more intuitive. I have also realized that I am ready for the next step in my
Instructional Technology journey. Looking back, I wish that I would have put a little more
information in my reflections simply because, like a diary entry, I want to know more about how
I was feeling about a certain topic or course. While I am 34, my memory isn’t quite what it used
to be, so a more descriptive recollection would have been appreciated.
Immediately, I think this artifact demonstrates faculty development and how someone can
change over the course of five semesters. I applied to the Kennesaw State program on a whim; I
had heard about it and had recently been passed over for my school’s Digital Coach position, so I
quickly filled out an application and waited. At the time, I enjoyed technology and using it in
my lessons, plus a pay increase never hurts. Thankfully, I have learned so much more about
being an effective teacher and coach through the program. The impact can be assessed daily in
my lesson preparation and implementation, my students’ work samples, and my new outlook and
goals for my educational career.
