My Mom (Marilou G. Retoriano) (37 years old)

“Social media has negative and positive impact on me. First the positive impact,

it makes me easier to be informed and to inform. It can reach many people as

possible and even if it is too far from you. Second is the negative impact,

because of information is easy to spread to many people, I cannot know what is

right and fake because of many information showing to me. It affected me by the

fact that yes I can easily contact, message whoever I want to and post anything

but there is still a responsibility about it. Also for the reason that it is easier than

the letters, It makes me confused sometimes if the message and information are

legit and really came from the person I want to talk. Than in the old letters that

the letter is the one and only letter and information that will go to the one and

only legit receiver of it but it still needs to undergo a long process.” – Marilou G.

“Social media, and other platforms of it is really helpful for me. It helped me to be

easily informed especially now that we are in a pandemic that we cannot talk to

each other personally. It serves as a pathway for us to communicate. It was also

entertaining especially on last lockdown or quarantine that we should just stay

inside of our houses. I'm really bored that is why I just watch Tiktok videos and

even dance into trending Tiktok dances. I also play games in social media and I

admit that I get addicted to it. Social media really affected my life that I just hold

my cellphone all day just scrolling and watching some videos on it. I can't stop
