I. Objective

disadvantages, application/use, method of preparation, packaging, labeling and storage
of semi-solid dosage forms.
Demonstrate competence in compounding, packaging and labeling of semi-solid dosage
forms.

IV. Procedure for preparation
a. Triturate zinc oxide until fine powder is obtained
b. Triturate starch together with the zinc oxide until fine and mixed thoroughly.
c. Triturate salicylic acid until
d. Using proper spatulation technique, incorporate zinc oxide and starch in quarters to
your petroleum jelly.
e. Add your salicylic acid.
f. Make sure to incorporate all the powder mixture with your petroleum jelly evenly.
g. Transfer in an appropriate container and label properly.
