Lesson Plan on Nervous System Functions

The lesson plan discusses teaching students about the nervous system. It includes 3 objectives for students to be able to differentiate the central and peripheral nervous systems, describe parts of the central nervous system and their functions, and appreciate the importance of the central nervous system. The lesson uses a carousel brainstorming activity where students rotate in groups to different stations to answer questions and share ideas about the nervous system.

Assertiveness

LESSON PLAN
Date: December 05, 2016

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson 85% of the students should
be able to:
1. differentiate the central nervous system and
peripheral nervous system.
2. describe the different parts of central nervous
system and its functions.
3. appreciate the importance of central nervous
system in human body.

II. Subject Matter:

A. Topic: Nervous System
1. Concepts/ Science Ideas: Nervous System connects
all your body parts and transmits signals from one part
to another. Central Nervous System (CNS) serves as the
main processing center for the entire nervous system.
Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) is a collection of nerves
that connect the brain and spinal cord to other parts of
the body and the external environment. Brain is an organ
located within the skull that functions as organizer and
distributor of information for the body. Cerebrum is
large, upper part of the brain that controls activity and
thought. Cerebellum is the part under the cerebrum that
controls posture, balance, and coordination. Brain stem
is the part that connects the brain to the spinal cord
and controls automatic functions such as breathing,
digestion, heart rate, and blood pressure. Spinal cord
serves as a channel for signals between the brain and the
62

rest of the body, and controls simple musculoskeletal

reflexes without input from the brain.

2. Process Skills: differentiating and describing

3. Value Focus: Appreciating the importance of central

nervous system to human body.

B. Materials: textbooks, powerpoint presentation,

cartolina, and fountain pen

 The human respiratory
system is a series of
organs responsible for
taking in oxygen and
expelling carbon dioxide.
The primary organs of the
respiratory system are

this exchange of gases as
we breathe.
 The circulatory system
is a vast network of organs
and vessels that is
responsible for the flow of
blood, nutrients, hormones,
oxygen and other gases to
and from cells.

the class could still

Teaching Procedures:
 The students are divided
into 5 groups. Each group are
assigned to every station with
a particular topic.

around the classroom in
groups, stopping at the
various stations for a
designated amount of time of
