Year One ● Competency Improvements: explore workshops and classes that address
different areas of competencies that need improvement (such as
2020 - 2021
understanding of higher ed structure, academic/career coaching, and student
issues from communities I am unfamiliar with)

● Functional Area Exploration: familiarize myself with different institutional type


through networking and attending other institutional type’s events

● Institutional Knowledge Development: actively contribute and take on tasks


from committees at institutional levels

● Professional Development: Attend ACAP National Conference

● Professional Development: intern for a non-profit focused on student success


to expand skill sets (GSBA internship opportunity)

● Professional Development: present at a local conference in a topic area I have


not previously presented on (Q-TOPIA Conference at South Puget Sound
Community College)

Year Two ● Functional Area Exploration: work/volunteer/intern at a different institutional


type (especially community colleges due to lack of prior experience)
2021 - 2022
● Functional Area Exploration: Attend the Community Leadership Institute

● Professional Development: Attend NASPA National Conference

● Professional Development: Sit on a local conference planning committee

● Professional Development: Present at a national conference on a topic I am


familiar with

● Professional Exploration: apply for full-time positions


Year Three ● Functional Area Exploration: take lead on tasks/project that I have not
previously lead before
2022 - 2023
● Professional Development: Explore functional areas professionally and
transition to a full-time position at a suitable institution

● Professional Development: Sit on a national conference planning committee

● Professional Development: Present at a national conference on a topic I am


not familiar with (NASPA or ACPA)

● Professional Development: Attend the Social Justice Training Institute

● Professional Development: Attend NCORE

● Institutional Level: be involved in committees concerning budget, higher ed


governance, and/or student development
