Individualized Professional Development Plan

Ashley Mendoza Elementary Education
WHY are you pursuing this degree?
Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve always looked up to my teachers and was fascinated that they got paid to go
to school every day. I have always loved school, so the idea that that could be my job made me so excited. I
also have always been the “smart kid” in school; therefore, I have had a lot practice teaching others because
my peers would come to me for help or my teacher would send them over to me if they were busy. I loved
getting to do that and would feel such a sense of pride seeing the look on their faces when they finally
understood a concept.
WHAT do you want the outcome to be?
I want to inspire kids and help them grow into the best people they can be. This age group is when they are
the most excited about learning. I want to make a difference in the world and I believe there is no better way
to do that than through educating children. I believe that everyone has the right to a good education.
HOW are you going to work toward making that outcome possible?
I am going to stay true to my morals and values about education and always push my students to be their
own best. In turn, I am also going to work on making myself the best person I can be. I will be one of their
biggest role models and be someone they will look up to. I need to be able to set that example for my
students.
