Confined space Rescue Plan

1.0 Purpose

The purpose of confined space rescue plan is to prevent prolonged suspension, perform rescue
and treatment as quickly as possible.

3.0 Rescue Plan

Rescue plan includes formulation of rescue team, equipment used during rescue and the steps of
rescue procedure.

3.1 Rescue Team

Rescue team consists of the following members:

• Rig Manager as Man in Charge of the whole operation.


• On duty Tool Pusher as Leader of rescue team.
• Two Designated Floor man as Rescue Team.
• Rescue Team list should be maintained by Rig HSE
Supervisor and necessary onsite training provided by Rig medic and HSE Supervisor
• Rig Medic
• Crane Operator (if Required)

3.2 Equipments involved

• Safety Harness
• Rescue Ropes
• Cutter (to Cut the Lanyard if Required)
• Basket Stretcher
• Crane
• Tag lines

3.3 Rescue Procedure

1. First of all event is communicated to all concerned.


2. Rig Manager and Company Man will inform their respective base camps about the event for
any emergency help.
3. Rig Medic will stand by at incident location along with Emergency Kit and basket
stretcher.
4. Ambulance will be called and make ready.
5. Tool Pusher will act as rescue team leader and supervise all rescue activities.
6. Driller will stop the operations and remain stand by for further advise from Rig
Manager.
7. Crane operator will be called if required
8. As a policy the person in confined space must wearing safety harness which will while rescue
from confined space.
9. Stretcher will be placed near the victim.
10. Two rescuers will bring the victim out of confined space by hand with the help of Safety
harness and support of ropes, depends on the scenario and situation.
11. Rescue team will release the victim from confined space and handover to the medic for first
aid.
12. Rig medic will be ready with stretcher, victim will be put into stretcher and medic will
give him first aid.
13. If Victim Condition is serious then he will be taken to hospital through ambulance and
Medical Evacuation Procedure will be followed.
