Should Abortion Be Banned?
Abortion is one of the most debated topics in different countries. There are different opinions on
whether are we going to legalize or ban the process of abortion. Though know many people will
get mad at me for this but I think abortion should be made legal for some reasons like- to preserve
the life or physical or mental well-being of the mother; to prevent the completion of a pregnancy
that has resulted from rape or incest; to prevent the birth of a child with serious deformity, mental
deficiency, or genetic abnormality; or to prevent a birth for social or economic reasons (such as
the extreme youth of the pregnant female or the sorely strained resources of the family unit). By
some definitions, abortions that are performed to preserve the well-being of the female or in cases
of rape or incest are therapeutic, or justifiable, abortions.
People can’t keep using the “put the baby up for adoption” when they won’t acknowledge just how
messed up the system is. People have to understand that abortion is rarely, if ever, done out of
spite or hatred of another living being. It’s acknowledging a person’s capability and/or their desire
to be pregnant and raise a child. A woman has every right to choose what to do with her body
whether she will save the fetus or terminate the fetation, because of solid reasons.
Banning abortions isn’t particularly effective. When governments restrict access to abortion,
abortions actually continue to take place at roughly the same rate, according to the World Health
Organization. But they get less safe. When abortion services are denied or limited, coat hangers,
toxic herbal medicines and unqualified practitioners’ step into the breach, while medical
professionals who provide proper care are criminalized. When we ban abortion, women who were
raped or non-desired pregnant would eventually end their life. Let us take for example a raped
woman who got pregnant; she was traumatized of what happened to her, she wants nothing to
remind her of that specific moment. But when abortion is banned, she would have to look at the
baby as a sign of what happened. The baby would constantly remind her of all the pain and the
horror of the day she got raped.
Abortion should be legal due to personal or medical reasons of the mother. Every woman has a
right to choose. If we make abortion legal save live but also to protect the health, mental and
physical, of the mother, in cases of rape and incest, and to avert the birth of defective offspring.
