Case Study Template Guide

This document provides a template for writing a case study, including sections for the introduction, objectives, leadership and change management, outcomes, performance indicators, costs and savings, obstacles, next steps, further information, and main contacts. The case study should address what the project aims to achieve, how leaders drove changes, what it accomplished and how it impacted people's lives, evidence of its success, its budget and contributions, obstacles and how they were overcome, future plans, additional resources, and contact details for the project lead and author. It also requests an illustrative photo and author headshot. The total length should not exceed 1500 words.

Case Study Template

1) Introduction (will be provided by Governance International).

2) Objectives (What does the project try to achieve? Which problem(s) does it address?
Why was the initiative launched)?

3) Leadership and change management (Who is driving the changes at different


levels? Who are the political, administrative and community leaders? How did these
leaders bring about the changes needed?

4) Outcomes (What did it achieve? How did it change somebody’s life – ideally give a
quote from a named person)

5) Performance indicators (Either the actual value of a PI or some other way of


providing evidence of how well the initiative has worked, if possible).

6) Costs and savings (Please give a cost estimate in terms of budget cost or time
involved by officers, citizens or other contributors)

7) Obstacles (Please identify up to three obstacles and briefly explain how they
were overcome)

8) Next steps (What are the future plans for this project? What will be changed as a
result of lessons learnt?)

9) Further information (e.g. publications, link to websites. U-tube videos etc.)

10) Main contact (name, job title, organisation, email). Ideally, the contact details should
include both the project lead and the author of the case study in case they are different
persons.

Please also send us at least one illustrative photo of the project and your headshot.

Ideally the case study should ideally be no longer than 1500 words in total.
