What is ERP?
• An ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is a software solution used by
companies to provide a digital solution for modern business problems
• It started in the 1980s with companies like Oracle, Microsoft and SAP
Use of ERP
• ERP is used to collect, store, manage, and interpret data from many
business activities
• This brings tremendous advantage to industries as they can now use
computers to do reports, data analysis, and day to day business
processes

• SAP is a software company in Germany which stands for Systems,
Applications, and Products in Data Processing
• It is a software corporation that makes enterprise software to manage
business operations and customer relations
• SAP ERP is one of the leading companies in the field with more than
70% of fortune 500 companies using it

How to use SAP
• First login to SAP GUI ( Graphical User Interface)

• No connection
• Time out
• Server is down
• You are opening public instead of production
Logging in
• Make sure you set:-
• Client : 900
• User : your account name
• Password : keep to yourself

Multiple logins
• This happens when you try to connect to a session
that is in progress
• If you know the session select the first option
• If you don’t want to log out other people using the
same account without finishing their work select
the last option
SAP GUI Menu
• Once you log on to the SAP System you can see the
SAP Easy access page as shown below with SAP
menu on the left-hand side which includes all the
core SAP Module packages like SAP SD, SAP MM,
SAP FICO, SAP PP/QM, SAP HR, SAP ABAP etc.
Functions of SAP menu
System messages
• Success Message: Upon success, a tick mark with green background is
displayed.
• Error Message: An error is some event which halts the system and
the work cannot be proceeded further. An error message is displayed
by means of exclamation sign with red background.
• Warning Message: A warning message is displayed with exclamation
sign with yellow background.
Navigations
• Tree structure helps you to manually navigate the SAP menu
• Favorites helps you quickly access the transactions you frequently
perform
• Transaction Codes (T-Codes) simple shortcut for accessing the desired
action
T-code Names
• The name of t-codes in SAP has a pattern
• T-codes that end with 1 are create:- VA01, MB21, VL01N, ME21N
• T-codes that end with 2 are change:- ME22N, VA02, MB22
• T-codes that end with 3 are display:- VA03, MB23, ME23N
Searching in SAP
• For any item which has multiple selections you can
specify your option from a selection button which 1
offers possible entries
• If you are uncertain of any criteria, you can use
wildcards (*)

Help option in SAP • Very powerful to understand fields and errors you
encounter

it is
• For errors that are displayed at the bottom click
