Usage : ការប្រើ ្ាស់
1. The Present Simple expresses a fact which is 2.
always true , or true for a long time.
2. The Present Simple also expresses a habit or an
action that happens again and again.
Form : ទ្រង់
1) Positive : S + V1 + OBJ . Add “S” for third perSon SingulAr
2) Negative: S + do/does + not + V1 + OBJ. I. If the verb ends in s or ss , sh , ch , o and x , add es.
3) Question: WH QUESTION +Do/Does + S + V1 + OBJ?
Example:
Note : ចំ ណំ a) pass passes
b) brush brushes
Do can use with subject ( I , You , We , They ).
c) catch catches
Does can use with subject ( He , She , It ).
d) go goes
e) box boxes
Example : ឧទាហរណ៍ II. If the verb ends in a consonant +y , the y change to
1. I live in Phnom Penh.
2. You love me ! –ies.
3. We go to school by bus.
4. They live in Takeo. Example:
5. He comes from Cambodia. a) cry cries
6. She walks her dog every day. b) carry carries
7. It cries at the outside. (Cry Cries) c) fly flies
8. I do not live in Phnom Penh. ( do not = don`t) III. If the verb ends in a vowel +y , the –y does not
9. You don`t love me ! change , add S .
10. We don`t go to school by bus.
11. They don`t live in Takeo. Example:

13. She doesn`t walk her dog every day. b) play plays
14. It doesn`t cry at the outside.

WH QUESTION IN ENGLISH Yes, S + do/does.
No, S + do/does + not.
1) What : ask for information about something. Example : Do you live in Phnom Penh ?
2) When : ask about the time that something happened or will happen. -Yes/No, I don`t .
3) Where : ask questions about place or position. Does he live in Takeo ?
4) Who : ask about someone’s identity. -Yes/No , he doesn`t.
5) Whom : ask about the object ( person) in the sentence.
6) Which : ask for information about one of a limited number of things. ទ្រង់ កាត់ ៖
7) Whose :ask about possession.
8) Why : ask for the reason. OBJ = Object : ករមរទ S = Subject : ្រធាន
