Our first six-week marking period is in the BOOKS! I am delighted to report that 64% of our Wildcats
earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher. We will be recognizing our Honor Roll recipients in a drive through
ceremony the week of September 28th to distribute certificates. Keep up the great work CATS!
Thank you to ASB, Ms. Habash, and Coach Allen for their work to bring some “normalcy” to these
unusual times. Club Rush will be happening virtually during period 4 on Monday, October 5th. We have
over 40 clubs and organizations that are in the process of activating for the 2020 -21 school year. Club/
organization officers are putting together a 1-minute commercial to promote their group in hopes of
attracting new members. The video will be posted to the home page of the Wilson website and clubs/
organizations will be listed under the “Programs” tab on the website after October 5th for those who
miss Club Rush.
Athletic coaches, dance coaches, and marching band coaches are in the process of being “cleared”
through Human Resources to provide virtual instruction and conditioning to our students. Guided by
the Los Angeles County of Public Health, we continue to revise and update our “Return to Play” plan in
preparation in hopes of returning to in-person practice in small group cohorts mid-October. Competitive
play for fall sports begins mid-December.
Please join me for Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday, October 6th at 6:00 PM for continued
updates. To attend, you must register and can do so by visiting the home page of the Wilson website
for the registration link. Looking forward to see you!
ASB Update
ASB has been hard at work in September. The month of September is National Suicide Prevention
Month. To bring awareness to this important month, ASB hosted a virtual spirit called “Treat People
With Kindness Week”. The week consisted of themed days whose purposes were to encourage the
spreading of kindness. The days were: Motivational Monday, Spread Kindness and Not Germs
Tuesday, Tie Dye Wednesday, Stress Relief Thursday, and We’re All in This Together Friday. Many
students participated in these days by posting their outfits and inspirational quotes on their Instagrams.
ASB cabinet results were also released in the final week of September: Matthew Chan(12) -President,
Justin Huh(11)-Vice President, Edmond Chu(12)-Senior Class President, Serena Lee(12)-Secretary,
and Slade Mendoza(11)-Treasurer.
Clubs will soon be allowed to start meeting. There will be a virtual club rush hosted by ASB and all
clubs on October 5th. At the club rush, there will be many opportunities to join clubs that may interest
you or inspire you to pursue a certain field. The list of approved clubs were released on Monday, 9/21
during morning announcements with Dr.Kenfield, and will soon be posted to the “PROGRAMS” tab of
the school site. If there are any questions or if clarifications are needed, feel free to contact ASB on the
school’s instagram account @glenawilsonhs.
Wilson’s school site council (SSC) consists of parents, students, and staff who share the same goal
which is to improve the learning environment for all students. Congratulations to our SSC chairpeople
who will be in charge of student representation during meetings: Senior Myla Romero -Chairperson,
Sophomore Bellai Sandoval-Vice Chairperson, and Junior Simone Yu-SSC Secretary. The SSC had
their first meeting on Monday, 9/21 and will continue to meet throughout the school year.

Student Spotlight (continued from page 1)
Wilson gave me the opportunity to take AP Physics 1 in my sophomore year, and while I struggled a
lot in that class, I learned so much about physics, but also about myself. It made me realize how
much I loved biology and chemistry, especially the intersection of both fields when it comes to human
physiology. I even started the Astronomy Club that same year because I was so intrigued by the
study of space, and that year of leading the club gave me the insight to realize astronomy was not
what I loved most and it gave me the experience that helped me to be a better leader in other activi-
ties. Wilson also gave me the chance to be in IB, which has truly challenged me to think and reflect
on myself and the world in so many different ways.”
When asked what advice she would give students that are new to Wilson, Sirjen replied, “Don’t be
shy about asking questions - the more you interact with your teachers, the better your experience will
be in that class and the more you’ll learn. Distance learning gives you even more opportunities to
build a rapport with your teachers. Go to office hours, email your teachers and get to know them, and
use the chat feature to your advantage during class! If you’re usually nervous about speaking up to
ask questions in class, ask the teacher privately from the chat on Zoom.”
WILSON HIGH SCHOOL IS PROUD OF SIRJEN KAUR!!
