You are eligible for REAL ID
Bring the following documents with you to a DMV office:
[ ] Foreign Passport with I-94
Your passport must be valid and in English or translated by an Embassy. Bring all supporting
documentation from the Department of Homeland Security with you to DMV.
[ ] U.S. Social Security Card
[ ] My NY State License/ID with current NY State address
Must be current or not expired for more than 2 years.
An interim (paper MV-1) license will not be accepted.
[ ] Bank Statement
Must show name and current NY State address. Must be issued within 120 days of your DMV office visit.
Electronic versions must be printed.
Also:
• Complete the Application for Permit, Driver license or Non-Driver ID Card
• Be ready to take the written permit test
• Bring money for fees $68.75-$120.00
Fees depend on your age when you apply and where you live. Exact fees cannot be calculated until you apply.

card, check or money order made out to Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.
Please note:
Your documents must
• Be original or certified. We cannot accept photocopies, damaged or illegible documents.
• Have the same first and last name (If your name changed, bring an original or certified copy of your
marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court issued name change. Documents must be issued in the
U.S.)
• At least one document must have your full middle name (if applicable).
• Be printed off if your proof of residency was sent to you electronically.
Any photo document that you are not clearly recognizable
Bring your glasses or contact lenses (if needed) to pass your vision test for license renewal or original
permit.
Your proofs of residence must show your current address (cannot be a P.O. Box).
DMV cannot accept two proofs from the same financial institution (bank statement, credit card
statement, ATM card, credit card or cancelled check).
