DEEP LEARNING
On the 6th of Aug 2019, Mr. Bharateesh addressed the Workshop on the
topic, Deep Learning.

Deep Learning is a subset of Machine Learning that deals with finding


relations(features) in a given set of data. Unlike Machine Learning, Deep
Learning can work with small amount of data. Deep Learning’s objective
involves mimicking human thoughts, in contrast to that of Machine
Learning, which involves testing and training from heaps of data, without
being programmed explicitly. Apps such as Google GO employ Deep
Learning.

Neural Network – A mathematical network that works as a layered filter for


data. Stages of such Neural Networks constitute Deep Neural Networks or
Deep Learning.

During the Hands-on Session, a database of Employee Attrition of a


company was selected as the workstation. Random Forest Classification, K
Nearest Neighbours etc. were built using the given dataset and analysed.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT
On the 9th of August 2019, the industrial visit was arranged to ACE
Designers Ltd., Peenya, B’luru.

ACE is a renowned Machine Tool manufacturer, headquartered in


Bengaluru, India. ACE is India’s largest CNC Lathe manufacturing company.
Two groups, one consisting of Professors and the other, of students were
led by the ACE personnel. The group of students toured around the campus
of the industry to learn about the various processes and machines.

We discerned CNC turning machines and CNC drilling machines in addition


to the conventional drilling machines, turning machines and grinding
machines. We acquired some information about punching and blanking
operations performed on sheet metal that make the doors of the CNCs
being manufactured. Finally, we witnessed a Robo Welding machine in
action as we made it to the exit.
