The team will educate the community using the Health Belief model by:
• Giving the Pros and Cons if they do not properly take care of their oral health
• Explain the seriousness of the risk if they do not heed any advices
• Discussing how prevention of oral diseases is better than treating a seriously diseased
oral cavity
Possible constraints that you may encounter along the way:
1. Improper handling of the program
We must know the general information accurately. The number of pupils participating
should be recognized to avoid unorganized program. With that, we can also estimate and
prepare the budget and gather enough facilitators that would help us during the program.
2. Improper handling of the participants
The participants are our priority, we should know their individual concerns, they may be
accompanied by their parent/guardian. We should not be biased and we should treat them
nicely, to avoid misunderstandings and confusions.
3. Person to contact
The facilitators should know who to talk to with regarding the program. Example is
communicating with principal/staff of the school and talk about the plan, intentions and
coordinate with them well on where and when the program will be held.
Group 1 (Aala, Cervania, Dogwe, Ferry, Ilagan, Sarte, Ramos)
4. Inadequate dental materials
We should have the enough dental materials for the procedures that we plan to give.
Make sure to keep it neat and sterilized; to avoid any infection/complication and to avoid
having troubles with the school and the pupils’ parent/guardian.
5. Inaccurate information from the facilitators
The facilitators must know the goals and objectives of the program. They should have the
knowledge, authority and friendly attitude towards the pupils. So that, they learn and
enjoy at the same time. For example, teaching and having demos on how to brush and
floss properly. Nutritious food and foods to avoid to prevent oral diseases might also be
an example in the discussion. We should take note of this to achieve a successful
program.
