Session 1
I. OPENING

In Mary Help of Christians College, we breath the air of the spirit of family. This
Salesian Family inspires each one of us to be holy on which many of our members have
journeyed on and reach its heights. Your class section name is not just a coincidence, but a
call to all of us to know and imitate. As we start our journey, it is but fitting to begin our
lesson by knowing your class patron/patroness so that we will invoke their help to
accompany each one to your journey to youthful sanctity.
CONTEXT

How do you feel when you hear the word becoming a saint? Or what are you
thinking when you hear the word holiness? (Draw out from the students their feelings and
thoughts on the topic which they find too banal or corny to be talked about)

EXPOSITION:

but, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct, for it is
written, Be holy because I am holy.

Church teachings:
The Lord asks everything of us, and in return he offers us true life, the happiness for which
we were created. He wants us to be saints and not to settle for a bland and mediocre
existence. The call to holiness is present in various ways from the very pages of the Bible…’’

Question: What particular SYS Element can we relate in their life which helped them attain
holiness?

I. INTEGRATION
Holiness is a universal call. Everybody can be holy and it has been testified by the
many members of our Salesian Family. Each of us can life a holy life just as our heavenly
Father is holy and we can grow in our desire to become holy as we do God; will for us in the
daily. Holiness for us consists in doing our ordinary duties extraordinarily well only for the
love of God.

II. SUMMARY
Our Salesian family is very rich in sanctity that we can claim: holiness runs in our
blood… in our Salesian family. Bl. Carmen Moreno and Bl. Amparo Carbonell /St. Mary
Mazzarello/St. John Bosco were holy persons themselves that they were able to help readily
give themselves for others. We are therefore challenged to be holy in all that we do as we
offer and sanctify everything for the love of the Lord. With the help of God’s grace which we
continually seek in prayer it is truly possible to become a saint in our present generation.
