Interview of the School Teacher
As I visited the school that I surveyed, one of the teacher said
that, one of the activity in school that allow the participation of the people
in barangay was the conduct of Brigada Eskwela, Fun Run, Sportsfest,
and etc. There are also community activities that we, as teachers join.
Like for example during election. We serve as a Board of Election
Inspectors, that supervised the counting, recounting and checking of the
Ballots. During Brgy. Fiesta that is the time that even the students are
involved in parade.
The students gain self confidence in joining such activities involving
community participation. The community was also benefited in joining
school activities, because the relationship of the school and the
community became stronger. As per my observation, the lessons that the
students acquired in school has been transferred by the students to their
homes and community through actively participating in all activities in
school and community.

My Reflections/Insights
After making a survey of the barangay and interviewing the teacher, answer
the following questions:
1. How do you feel about the participation of the school, teacher and
learners in the celebration of the barrio fiesta?
The school has a harmonious relationship with the community that they
belong. The school personnel, teachers, and learners are very cooperative on
the activities conducted by the barangay officials. They also contributed in the
celebration through the school band and school community participation
during the barangay parade.
2. How does the view of the community improve the teacher’s status?
The view of community is very important because it reflects the
performance of the teachers not only in teaching but also in non-teaching
activities especially those involving the community.
3. What realization that relate to you becoming a teacher, have you gained
from your concrete experiences and observations in the community?
As a future teacher I should also be aware of the role of a teacher in a
community so that I’ll be able to do it well. Knowing my role in the community
will allow me influence not only my students but also the people in the
community such as the parents of my learners and the barangay officials.
Having a harmonious relationship with the community will make more linkages
to our stakeholders.
