EB Science 4 Module Week 1

This document provides a lesson plan on science process skills for 4th grade students. It includes the objectives, content standards, topics, and materials for the lesson. The lesson defines science process skills like observing, classifying, measuring, inferring, predicting, and hypothesizing. It provides examples and has students watch a video, answer questions, and take a summative test to apply their understanding. The goal is for students to understand how science process skills are used in daily life and experiments.

Module 1: Lesson Proper on Science Process Skills

In this module, you are going to explore the Science Process Skills. I know that you already had
this lesson previous grade levels but this topic is very essential in learning science. So, we are
going to revisit this basic yet interesting topic.

This week's objectives are:

 identify the different science process skills;
 differentiates the different scientific processes;
 apply the science process skills in everyday living.

Evidence of Learning:
 Formative Assessments
 Summative Assessments

Materials:
 Learning materials can be accessed thru Canvas, e-mail and other means to make them
available to all of you.

thru messenger.
 Please copy these learning objectives in your notebook as your reference in making your
"I can" statement. After copying, you can now write your "I can" statement in the space
provided below.

Happy learning!

Hi kids! Let's have some terms that are related to science process skills. Please
take note of them.

1. Observing

2. Classifying

3. Measuring

4. Inferring

5. Predicting

6. Hypothesizing

7. Experimenting
Can you still recall these terms? These are the science process skills. You will
enhance your knowledge about these as we go on with this lesson.

Do you have questions so far? If you have questions please click the REACH OUT
icon below so we could discuss about it.

At this point, you are going to watch a short video about science process skills. Please take
note of the important terms.

You can also access the link for the video

[Link]

(NOTE: If you cannot access the video or don’t have any means to access it don’t worry since
you have a PowerPoint learning material below.)

After watching the video, you are going to process it by answering the following questions?

1. What is the video all about?

2. Predicting is forecasting about what will happen in the future. (True /False)

It’s nice to go back to the video should you not able confident with your answers.

Are you done? If so, I am going to present to you some concepts in Science Process Skills. Please
read carefully and understand the concepts to ensure success in this lesson.
NOTE: Let me just emphasize that, measuring as a science process skills, you need your
knowledge and background in Math such as in getting the volume, weight, the length and other
measurements of an object.

If you are done reading the concepts, get ready to answer the questions in the REFINE part of
the module.

How confident are you with the lesson? Do you need more time to go over with your
notes? Then you may do so.

?? If you have questions at this point, you may contact me at 09476434393 or just leave
a message in the messenger.
Hi Kids! We are now in the REFINE PART of the lesson. Here, we will polish your knowledge so
that you can have a better understanding about the lesson.

Science process skills also applies your knowledge in Mathematics. Let's say for example: When
you are asked by your mother to measure the size of your foot because she will buy a new pair
of shoes for you, then you have to use something to tell your mother the size of your foot. Right?
In this case you are going to use ruler, tape measure, and measuring stick can also be
used. What else can you use? These instruments have numbers to tell you the size of your foot
and you are using standard units in measurement.

In the next slides you will be answering some questions applying the different science process
skills.

You can also download this link for more additional readings.

At this point, its book time!

Please open your textbook to page 6-7 for reading. You are tasked to browse those pages and
underline/highlight key terms and ideas about science process skills.

After accomplishing your book activity, you are tasked to take pictures of the highlighted terms
and ideas and post on the REPLY/ DISCUSSION TAB as a proof that you did your t

Hi! How did you find your quiz? Is it good? To give you the correct answer, you may message me
so we can discuss the answer. I hope this will help you become more knowledgeable about the
lesson.
Hello again kids! How are you doing so far?

At this point, let's try to "reconcile" ideas which are sometimes confusing.

Concerns/Clarifications

____________________________________________________________________________________________
____________________________________________________________________________________________
____________________________________________________________________________________________

Qualitative observations- these are observations made using the senses and
they are descriptive. Example: The gabi leaves are green. They are waxy ans
smooth.

Quantitative observations- these are observations involving numbers or

quantities. Example: The flower of the gumamela plant has five petals. Each
petal measures 9.2 centimeters in length.

Hi again! After posting your inquiries and trying to reconcile your concerns, it’s time to apply your
knowledge in real life situation. In the next slides you will be answering questions as part of your
SUMMATIVE TEST. You may review your notes, your downloaded materials as well as your textbook
to get prepared.

Are meeting your “ I can… Statement so far? I hope so.

You are now about to embark on your summative test. This means that this is recorded and
graded already. Write letter of the correct answer. Good luck!

7. Reflect

Good job kid! You are almost done with the lesson on science process skills. I
hope you have learned a lot.

Now, its reflection time. I want you to reflect or think about the question below.

- How important science process skills are in our daily living especially during the
pandemic?

Please write your thoughts on the space provided below and I would be excited
to read everything.
