TESTING & REPAIR

PERFORM FUNCTION TEST FOR RAIN/LIGHT SENSOR - AR82.00-S-0020-01S

MODEL 906 with CODE JA5 (Light and rain sensor)

1. Switch on ignition.

Waiting time approx. 5 seconds.

2. Switch off ignition.

Waiting time approx. 5 seconds.

Windshield is measured in the rain/light sensor (B38/2) and the measured values stored.

3. Turn on ignition.

4. Move combination switch to intermittent operation "I".

5. Moisten windshield slightly in vicinity of rain/light sensor (B38/2).

Windshield wiper must switch itself on.

6. Move rotary light switch to "AUTO".

7. Cover rain/light sensor (B38/2).

Exterior lights must switch on automatically.

arrow against the catch and remove to the front
2 Rotate bulb holder through 90° and remove
3 Install in the reverse order

Remove/install
1 Disconnect electrical connector (1)
2 Detach washer fluid line (3) at headlamp With code (F46) Headlamp cleaning
cleaning system pump (M5/2) system
Installation: Inspect O-ring,
install new ring if necessary.
3 Pull headlamp cleaning system pump With code (F46) Headlamp cleaning
(M5/2) out of washer fluid reservoir (2) system
Collect escaping washer
fluid.
Installation: Inspect gasket,
install new part if necessary.
4 Remove screws/bolts (4)
5 Lift washer fluid reservoir (2) until
windshield washer fluid pump (M5/1) is
accessible
6 Pull windshield washer fluid pump Collect escaping washer
(M5/1) out of the washer fluid reservoir fluid.
(2) and place to one side Installation: Inspect gasket,
install new part if necessary.
7 Pull rear end washer fluid pump (M5/3) With code (W78) Window in
out of the washer fluid reservoir (2) liftgate/hinged rear door with

 Installation: Inspect gasket,

washer fluid reservoir (2) (arrows)

indicator switch (S42) reservoir (2).
Installation: Inspect gasket,
install new part if necessary.
11 Install in the reverse order

2. Switch off ignition.

Windshield is measured in the rain/light sensor (B38/2) and the measured values stored.

3. Turn on ignition.

4. Move combination switch to intermittent operation "I".

5. Moisten windshield slightly in vicinity of rain/light sensor (B38/2).

Windshield wiper must switch itself on.

6. Move rotary light switch to "AUTO".

Exterior lights must switch on automatically.

2 Detach washer fluid line (3) at headlamp With code (F46) Headlamp cleaning

openings (arrows) and unlock *WH58.30-Z-1007-19A
