Project Completion Report

This project completion report summarizes modifications made to rectify heavy spillage from a balling disc discharge chute over 30 days. 1) The project description explains that material was accumulating and spilling from the small discharge chute, reducing productivity and increasing costs. 2) Meetings determined that mechanical modifications could minimize or stop spillage. 3) Evaluations found extending the chute and adding a new Teflon sheet stopped 95% of spills. 4) Images show spillage reduction after modifications. The outcome was reduced recycled material and manpower now available for other areas.

Project profile

Project title: Balling disc heavy spillage rectification.

Project time period: 30 days Date submitted:
Involved area: Pelletization balling disc
Conducted by: Mr. Deepak Mishra

Project report and reflection

1. Project description: Heavy material spillage happening from balling disc discharge C-chute, which is a
direct loss of productivity as well as costing increased due to engaging man power for housekeeping. It also
affect operation when again charged in green ball conveyor as most of the material goes back as recycled.

2. Meeting objectives: It is being observed that by doing some mechanical modification, the spillage can be
minimized or completely stopped. All the details discussed and planned with mechanical persons.

3. Evaluation: Due to small area of discharge C-chute materials get accumulated at the edge of the peripheral
of disc and hence spillage started. So extending C-chute with fitted new Teflon sheet, and C-chute adjustment
have been done. All the technical details are as follows-

 Drawing:- Submitted drawing shows all the measurement of work done on balling disc discharge chute
section.
4. Digital supporting images (Before and After):-

Material accumulation leads to spillage. Small section not enough for complete material flow.

AFTER:- AFTER:-

C-chute Extension works in progress. Under development “extended section of C-chute” (pic-1)

Under development “extended section of C-chute” (pic-2) Complete extended section view.

5. Outcome review:
 Heavy material spillage 95% stopped after complete modification done.
 Man power now available for other required areas, who were engaged before in balling disc area for housekeeping.
 Recycled material reduced in some extent.
