BRIEF BACKGROUND/RATIONALE:
Basketball is a traditionally masculine sport which is made by men to be able to test their
strength. In the modern society, women are now able to freely do things which are labeled to be as for
men only before.
Del Pilar Academy is an institution which is not only committed to academics, but also to
sports. All of their currently existing varsity teams have both girls and boys team, except for basketball.
The formation of a girls basketball team was planned before, but it was not executed. Since they are not
new to the idea of forming such team, the researcher conducted this research to find out the views of he
female students on how sex appropriation affects the formation of a girls basketball team.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVES/STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVES/PROBLEMS:
General: How does sex appropriation affects the formation of a girls basketball team?
Specific:
1. Why is sex appropriation a huge factor in the formation of a girls basketball team in Del Pilar
Academy?

2. What is the significance of forming a girls basketball team?

3. How can sex appropriation be set aside to form a girls basketball team?
4. What are the female student’s and the current Basketball Coach’s views on forming a girls

RESEARCH DESIGN:Correlational Research
SIGNIFICANCE
There are few studies which focus on sex appropriation and how it affects the formation of a
girls basketball team. This study will open up a timely problem which often gets dismissed because the
society already got used to the barriers produced by sex differences. This study is significant because
this has the possibility to alter the current practice of not having a girls basketball team in Del Pilar
Academy.
