FIVE IMPLEMENTATION MODELS OF CURRICULUM
1. ORC model (Overcoming Resistance to Change)
This model focuses on how the curriculum developers and implementors deal with the
needs and concerns of the ones who are going to use the curriculum such as teachers, students,
staffs, parents and the institution itself. The developers must consider the changes that will affect
them (the users) as a whole. More so, the proposed curriculum should influence the users to get
motivated not to force them to adapt the changes.
2. LOC model (Leadership-Obstacle course model)
This model proposes initiation to collect information among the users who are opposing
the curriculum implementation. In this model, the developers should know and aware with the
conflict that may arise as they implement the curriculum innovation. Hence, the curriculum that
is being implemented should note feedback making and monitoring so that the problem may
arise will be solved at one point at a time.
3. Linkage Model
This model emphasizes the user system and the resource system that there has to be a
link between the two systems. That is, the resource system should have a clear picture of the
user’s problems. In doing so, there should be at least an established research center lead by
educators to solve the problem that may arise.
4. Organizational Development
This model proposes an organization that enables the curriculum implementation be
implemented in such a manner that the process of implementation is planned operationally with
quality facilitators. In this sense, the members of the developers must be equipped with strategies
and knowledge that will enable them to manage the curriculum efficiently.
5. RCA (Rand Change Agent model)
In this model, the curriculum developers must secure and assure the support of the users.
That is, they must aware of the changes and adjustments they may encounter as they implement
innovations in the education system. The changes, in the end, may become part of the
curriculum. The developers must also prove to the users that the curriculum is legitimate.
