TECHNICAL GUIDELINES
I. Rules :
The tournament shall be held in accordance with the current Laws and Regulations of the Badminton World Federation
(BWF). However, in matters not covered by these rules and regulations, decisions shall rest with the Tournament Managers.
The Tournament Managers shall be responsible for the technical organization of the tournament. The decision of the
committee in all matters regarding the competition shall be final.
Only the coaches are allowed to approach the Match Control with regards to questions and inquiries during the match.
II. Tournament Format :
The format of the tournament shall be SINGLE ELIMINATION for SINGLES, MIXED DOUBLES and TEAM
TIE and DOUBLE ELIMINATION for DOUBLES for all events in the elementary and secondary level both boys and
girls.
III. Events :
Individual Competition Elementary and Secondary Boys and Girls
S Boys Singles(BS) two (2) entries per District
S Girls Singles (GS) two (2) entries per District
S Boys Doubles (BD) one (1) entry per District
S Girls Doubles(GD) one (1) entry per District
S Mixed Doubles (MXD) one (1) entry per District
lV. Seeding/Ranking :
Pairings for elementary and secondary level for both boys and girls in all events (individual) shall be done by draw
lots, except for the seeded players/district (Champion and 1st runner – up) based on the 2016 Palarong Lungsod held .
VI. Drawing of Lots :
The drawing of lots shall be done during the solidarity meeting of the 2017 Palarong Lungsod Meet. Coaches or
representatives shall be the one to make draw to determine their opponent.
Failure to attend the said meeting, the coach/representative has waived his/her right to question the
tournament proceedings/technical guidelines.
VII. Entry of Players (Individual Competition) :
Coaches shall submit their entries for Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles competition during the solidarity meeting
before the start of the drawing of lots on a prescribed entry form to be provided by the management.
Upon submission of the entries duly signed by the coach, no substitution shall be allowed after
the draw.
VIII. Scoring :
Individual Competition : The BWF scoring of 1 – 21 points (rally point) best of three (3) games shall apply.
In case the score becomes 20 all, the player/pair who gains an advantage of two (2) points wins the game (22 – 20, 23 –
21). If the score becomes 29 – all, the player/pair who score 30th point wins the game.
Note: In singles, champions in Bracket A and B will compete for the 1 st and 2nd place. 1st runners up in
Bracket A and B will compete for the 3rd and 4th place (best of three (3) games).
IX. Rule of Succession shall be Applied :
WALK – OVER
- A five (5) minutes grace period on the scheduled match shall be given, otherwise the player/team shall be declared
loser via walk – over.
In case of injury or sickness during a match, a player who could not recover within 10 minutes shall be
losing by retirement.
X. Selection of Players :
Champion and first runner up in singles and champion in doubles in the individual events.
Team tie events have no bearing in the selection of players for the Palarong Pambansa but it will add to the
medal tally per division.
XI. Selection of Coaches :
The number of medals shall be applied in the selection of coach.
In case of tie, based on the number of silver and then bronze.
In case of tie in the number of medal (gold, silver and bronze), most number of players shall prevail.
XII. Attire :
All players are required to use their playing uniform (Division colors) on the FIRST DAY, CHAMPIONSHIP
GAME and AWARDING CEREMONY and other prescribed badminton uniform during the succeeding days.
In doubles, they should have the same shade or color.
XIII. Protest :
Protest on the eligibility will be settled at the level of the organizing and screening committee. Protest on technicality
will be settled at the level of the Tournament Managers.
XIV. Unforeseen Event :
The decision of the Tournament Managers on any disputes the competition shall be final.
The on - going matches will be impossible to continue, such matches will be continued later from the point where it was
disrupted.
XV. Players, Coaches and Officials Code of Conduct :
Shall be STRICTLY implemented. (Refer to Appendix 1 and Appendix 2)
