Electronics and Robotics
GENERAL STANDARD: The learner demonstrates understanding of his/her Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies (PECs),
the market and environment and process/production and delivery of quality products/ services in digital electronic circuits’
analysis and operation.
Course Description:
The first quarter provides an introduction to the fundamentals of electronics, electron theory, series and parallel circuits and
Ohm’s law. It includes the study of handling electronic tools, instruments and safety. Studies DC and AC circuits, basic electronic
components, instruments, network theorems and techniques used to analyze conditions of electronic components and measure
electrical quantities.
Second quarter focuses on the fundamentals of digital circuits, binary numbers, logic gates, cmos, timers and its assembly.
Third quarter deals with the development of radio broadcasting, fundamentals of AM and FM, principles of transmission,
reception and assembly.
Fourth quarter is designed to introduce students to basic robotics through lectures, construction, programming and
implementation of Lego NXTs or other Robotics Kits available in the school.
Students will start with the Lego NXT (other robotics kits) basic construction technique, design and programming then move on to
challenges, and finally a group presentation. By the end of the
quarter, students should be able to design, simulate, build, and program a robot.
Course objectives:
At the end of the course, the students are expected to:
a. Acquire knowledge in the fundamentals of electronics and robotics.
b. Understanding the operation of an AM/FM radio.
