RCC-M vs ASME BPVC Comparison

The document compares the general layout and organization of the ASME BPVC (2010 Edition) and RCC-M Code (2007 Edition). Key differences include: - RCC-M was developed for French PWR nuclear reactors while ASME covers broader mechanical engineering. - RCC-M is organized into sections for materials, components, and nondestructive testing methods. ASME has additional sections for boilers, transportation containers, and pressure vessels. - Both codes have subsections that classify components by safety class and intended use, though RCC-M only covers nuclear island components while ASME has broader application.

Comparison Between ASME (Sec II and Sec Ill) and RCC-M

This report described a comparison, found in two International codes, namely ASME BPVC (20 I 0 Edition) and RCC-M
Code (2007 Edition), with specific requirements for the construction of Nuclear Island. The prime investigation is limited to

comparison of Sec II and Sec Ill from the ASME BPVC (20 I 0 Edition) with RCC-M Code (2007 Edition). The ma in
body of this comparison is based on Scope, Materials, Testing methods and Quality systems requirements described in various
sections/subsections of both of the codes.
The first part of this comparison table between two International codes describes general layout comparison defining historical
back ground, various sections of both, the codes and brief description of quality management system.
The second part of this comparison table describes different aspects regarding mechanical testing including sample orientation,
sample sizes, testing methods at both room and elevated temperatures. The comparison also defines the deference between
procedures for determination of RTNDT in both the codes.

The third part of this compassion table deals with IGC testing, solution treatment methods, bending procedures, grain size
measurement and chemical analysis.
