Communication Devices:
Communication is the activity of conveying information. The
word communication has been derived from the Latin word
‘communis’, meaning to share. It basically involves a sender, a
message and a receiver.
Communication is giving, receiving or exchanging ideas, data,
information, signals or messages through appropriate media,
enabling individuals or groups to persuade, to seek information,
to give information or to express emotions.
Communication is usually a two-way process. It is not just giving
information or signaling someone. It also involves the
comprehension of the information or the signal by the receiver.
When the act of giving information or sending message reaches
the recipient and gets comprehended by him/her and the
receiver sends feedback as desired by the sender, the process
of communication is said to be complete. Communication,
therefore, involves more than one person.
Communication is a continuous and dynamic process involving
more than one person. It is a cyclic process denoting
continuous flow of information. It essentially involves sender,
3

message and recipient. The sender conceives ideas and
encodes them into suitable medium (facts, figures, pictures)
sends them through appropriate channel (email, phone,
speech) to the recipient. The recipient decodes the message,
understands it and encodes feedback and sends it to the
sender.
A communication devices is any type of hardware capable of
transmitting data, instructions and information between a
sending device and receiving device. A dial-up modern
converts signals between analog and digital.
A wireless modern uses the cell phone network to connect to
the internet wirelessly from a notebook computer, a smart
phone or other mobile devices.
A wireless access point a router connects multiple computers
or other routers together and transmits data to its correct
destination on a network.
Communications Channel:
A communications channel or transmission media on which the
data , instruction or information travel.

Uses Of Computer Communications
Communications technologies include blogs, chat rooms, e-
mail, fax, instant messaging, newsgroups, RSS, video,
conferencing, VoIP, web, web folders and wikis. Users can send
and receive wireless messages to and from smart phones, cell
phones, handheld game consoles, and other mobile devices
using text messaging, picture messaging, video messaging, and
wireless instant messaging. People connect wirelessly to the
internet through a wireless internet access point. A hot spot is a
wireless network that provides internet connections to mobile
computers and devices. A cybercafé is a coffeehouse,
restaurant, or other location that provides computers with
internet access .A global positioning system (GPS) analyzes
signals sent by satellites to determine an earth-based receiver’s
geographic location. Many software products provide a mean
to collaborate, or work online with other users connected to a
server. Groupware is software that helps groups of people work
on projects or share information over a network. Voice mail
allows someone to leave a voice message for one or more
people. Web services describe standardized software that
enables programmers to create applications that communicate
with other remote computers.

The purpose of the components
required for successful
communications , and identify
various sending and receiving
devices:
Computer communications describes a process in which two or
more computers or devices transfer data, information and
instructions. Successful communications requires a sending
device that initiates a transmission instruction, a
communications device that connects the sending device to a
communications channel, a communications channel on which
the data travels, a communications device that connects the
communications channel to a receiving device, and a receiving
device that accepts the transmission of data, instructions or
information. All types of computers and mobile devices serve as
sending and receiving devices in a communications system.

Sending Devices And Receiving
Devices:
Sending devices initiates the transmission of data,
instructions and information while receiving device
accepts the items transmitted.
Microcomputers, mini computers and mainframes all can
serve sending and receiving devices.
Besides, internet appliances and web enabled handled
computers (e.g. cellular telephones and pagers) can also
serve as sending and receiving devices.
A microcomputer is a computer that can perform all of its
inputs, process, output and storage activities by itself.
Microcomputers are often known as a personal computer
(PC).
Microcomputers include desktop computers, tower model
computer, notebook computer, and internet appliances.
These can be also referred to as sending and receiving
computers.
Desktop computers are designed so that the system unit,
input devices, output devices and any other devices fit
entirely on a desk or table.
7
8
Tower model computers has tall and narrow system unit
that usually suits on the floor.
Notebook computers which is also known as laptop
computer is a portable, personal computer small enough
to fit on the lap.
Handheld is also referred to as a palmtop computer’s it is a
small portable computer that fits in the hand of a user.
An internet appliances is a computer with limited
functionally whose main purpose is to connect to the
internet from home.

History Of Communication
Devices:
The first means of communication was, of course , the
human voice but about 3,200BC writing was invented in
Iraq and Egypt .
10
11
Communication 1500-1800. The next major improvement
in communication was the invention of printing.
The first newspaper was printed in the 17th century
Communication In the 19th century: Communication
became far more efficient and the letter system was
introduced.
Communication continued to improve in the 20th century.
The first Television was invented in 1952 by John Logie
Baird, and the first communications satellite, echo was
launched in 1960.
In the early 21st century the internet became an important
form of communication. Today E-mail has become one of
the most popular methods of communication. In the 2010s
Ebook readers became common.
Uses of computer
communications:
Communications technologies include blogs, chat rooms,
email, fax, instant messaging, RSS, video, conferencing,
VOIP, web, web folders and wikis.
Users can send and receive wireless messages to and from
smart phones, cell phones, and other devices.

People connect wirelessly to the internet through a
wireless internet access point.
A hotspot is a wireless network that provides internet
connections to mobile computers and devices.
Many software products provide a mean to collaborate, or
work online with other users connected to a server.
Groupware is a software that helps group of people work
on projects, or share information over a network.
voice message allows someone to leave a voice message
for one or more people.
Disadvantages of using
communication devices:
Today’s, text messages, emails, and face book posts have
taken over much of our social lives. Although the initial act
of communication was private, your recipient could share
the instant messages or email with others, inadvertently
or otherwise. When this occurs, not only are you unable to
deny conversations, but it can be embarrassing and even
damaging, depending on the message contents.
12
13
Sitting next to someone who is engaged in a heated text
message conversation can cause you to feel lonely or left
out.
When you communicate using your computer, cell phone
or other gadget , you lose the nuance provided by body
language and voice inflection.
A final detriment of the increasingly commonplace
practices of texting messages is the upsurge of acronyms,
abbreviations and quite simply, lazy language.
Barriers of communication:
For a communication to take place, a message must be
transmitted by communicator and correctly received by a
listener. If the message is not understood, there is no
communication. There is only noise. There may be barriers
that exist between the sender and the receiver such as
cultural difference.
Environmental conditions may also create barriers, e.g.,
others talking, outside noises, poor acoustics. More
common, however, are differences in frames of references
between sender and receiver. Between audience why will
have barriers of communication this is because difference
13

in perception, incorrect filtering, language problems, poor
listening, different emotional states, and different
background. Because of this kind of reason so that it will
make audience confuse.
Conclusion:
In my conclusion, communication is not just words it is a
mixture of tone and body languages. You can effectively
utilize your voice tone and body language to convey your
message across. It is often advised to establish eye to eye
contact wherever possible rather than other forms of
indirect communication. Not only for this sometime you
send wrong message just only one word also will make you
lose money or harm people in business. So that, in the
business ways communications is very important
sometimes not only business ways when u talk with
people but also will spoil your morality. So that,
communication is very important no matter what living
creature also have communication even though a pet also
got communication. They use their own communication
you don’t know only.

SUMMARY:
Communication can best summarized as the transmission
of message from a sender to a receiver in an
understandable manner. The importance of effective
communication is immeasurable in the world of business
and in personal life. The communication process is the
guide towards realizing effective communication. It is
through the communication process that the sharing of a
common meaning between the sender and receiver take
place. Individuals that follow the communication process
will have the opportunity to become more productive in
every aspects of their profession. Effective communication
leads to understanding. Communication is not that easy as
it seems and speaking is only one of the elements that it
consists of. There is also a body language that many
people aren’t aware of existing or don’t know how to use.
And if speech and body don’t go with themselves someone
can be easily misinterpreted. Intentions won’t be clear
enough.
Components:
15
16
The communication process is made up of four key
components:
Encoding
Medium of transmission
Decoding
Feedback
Factors:
There are also two other factors in the process:
Sender: Sending devices initiates the transmission of data,
instructions and information.
Receiver: Receiving device accepts the items transmitted.
The communication process begins with the sender and
end with the receiver.
