What Are The Problems Faced by The Indian Air Industry in Terms of Cargo Movement?

The Indian aviation cargo industry faces problems of poor cargo handling facilities like lack of adequate equipment, insufficient warehouses and aircraft infrastructure. India's air traffic is highly concentrated in a few airports, with negligible cargo facilities in most second-tier cities. Possible alternatives include developing infrastructure in smaller cities, simplifying paperwork through electronic data interchange, and improving cargo handling equipment at all airports.

What are the problems faced by the Indian Air Industry in terms of cargo movement?

The Indian aviation industry has grown rapidly and over the years is one of the fastest growing
industries worldwide. The domestic aviation market is comprised of about 75% of private airlines
and dominates the industry with their full-service companies and low cost carriers.
The principal problems are — Poor cargo handling facilities, i.e. lack of adequate equipment and
therefore goods handling. Insufficient warehouses, aircraft etc. infrastructure to facilitate the
whole process. India's air traffic is highly concentrated at a number of airports with negligible or
negligible facilities in most of the second-tier cities. Few airlines of cargo.
The possible alternatives are — Demand and infrastructure are the drivers for the growth of air
cargo. Many bottlenecks in the air freight domestic industry can be avoided by infrastructure
development , planning and distribution. A volume growth will draw greater investment. By
building airport capacity in Tier II and Tier III cities and simplifying processes through electronic
data interchange ( EDI), the government will help to make paperwork simpler and transactions
more speedy. Improved cargo handling equipment at all airports.
